JoomlaXplorer solves UID probs by frieskist, May 10, 2006

I experienced the problem of not being able to delete files from my webserver, the componentfiles that were installed by the Joomla app. The UID was set to Apache (server) and therfor, my userid was not able to alter these files or remove them. My webmaster had to do that for me, and that is not a suitable option.
With this tool I'm able to delete the files with a few mouseclicks.
JoomlaXplorer makes life much easier!

It's excellent. I love it very much since I installed it. However, the only bit disadvantage is it can not change the name of the file.

joomla Xplorer is lovely by deanwade, May 3, 2006

I kid you not. As a joomla noob I found xplorer to be fantastic. It really does simplify uploading and managing files. You MUST have this component. It worked right off the install. It takes no time at all to learn. Install it now.

Line numbers? by Norne, April 30, 2006
|
It works fine (always did) and it's the first component I install. It's a "must have". But I miss seeing the line numbers in the file when I view it. Error messages usually come with a specified line number, and when I download the file from JoomlaExplorer, there are lots of extra space in the file, so the lines are messed up.
This is not a new issue (it was the same with the old MamboExplorer), but can it be fixed? It would make it a perfect tool.

Wow, what a GREAT feature set, and easy install. Click upload and you're done! Inline editting of files all the way down to www root, downloading of files, archiving, and chmod? No need for FTP with this bad-boy, makes remote management a breeze. Bravo!

Very Clean and Easy to Follow by Bink, April 25, 2006

This component is very slick and easy to use. It is very "self explanatory". Installation was a breeze. No behind the scenes modifications were needed to make it work. It is very useful as it allows you to modify files outside of the joomla install realm as well. I highly recommend it.

I love it by genc, April 16, 2006

Helped me a lot many times I didn't want to use a ftp client for a linux server. It's very useful and I think should be integrated with other versions of joomla.
To the Dev Team : Great work...keep it up :)

After Installing Joomla, Install This Next by 0wn4g3, April 10, 2006

I agree with the majority of posts already here. This component solves the infamous “CANT DELETE FILE OR FOLDER FROM THE FTP BECAUSE YOU ARE NOT THE OWNER” bug. Although slated to be fixed in future version of Joomla this component allows you to delete those files.
It also provides you a little status bar telling you the amount of space on the hard drive your site resides on. I thought that was neat. The interface is great. The only thing I can suggest is that he place words underneath the icons so it is that much clearer which each button function is. Other than that, a solid piece of work.
After you install Joomla this should be the next item on your list.

It helped me deleting files from the file-owner apache. Because I could not delete those files through ftp I had to ask my provider to delete them. Its just wonderfull.

Configuration by SuperMau, April 6, 2006

Great component! I just would like a configuration option to select user privileges (grant Administrators access to the component in adition to Super Administrators) and to set root directory of choice.

cannot get plugin to install by chuckevans, April 1, 2006

I downloaded the plugin, logged into my admin panel, clicked on "installers" then "components" and get a message that says,
ERROR: Could not find an XML setup file in the package.
then there is second error that says,
/home/howtobui/public_html/chuckevansgolf/Joomla/media/install_442df521d5639/
anyone got any ideas?
thanks,
chuck

eXcellent by Joomla101, March 22, 2006

Install easy, has an intuitive interface, gives full access to files and folders on site. One problem I had was not having full ftp access to my site, permissions wise. My host could either set joomla/www or ftp as admin access. Now I get full access to files and folders through joomla admin. Well done.
