joomlaXplorer was one of my favorite extensions, but it keeps getting better. Adding native FTP support lets me do absolutely anything right from my browser. This extension is the next best thing to have desktop access to the web server, and is far easier to use for most tasks than SSH or SFTP clients.

I recommend this to all site admins, especially if you don't have 100% control over your own servers (for example, because you are using a hosting service).

Note that I have been using this extension for more than a year and have not experienced any security issues due to its installation.

The idea and functionality of this extension is great of course. It has given me grief a couple of times to now though:

After uploading files I had a whole site go to 403 forbidden a couple of times because Joomla!Xplorer changed the owner/user of / to root:root, making it inaccessible to anyone else.

This extension really save me a lot of time for file management than ftp client. It also can browse the whole site on the secure-ftp only host. Every joomla site should have this installed.

Very good component, incredibile design and ajax loading with v. 2!

The only thing that i don't like is the function in the editor that insert double "(" ")" or """

I can't believe I went without this extension for so long! It has been absolutely the BEST thing since Community Builder for our Society site. SUPER easy to install, even for a gray-haired old lady like me; and it allows me a quick interface with my domain so I can move, copy, edit and delete any file as well as upload images and information quickly, both in the standard interface and in FTP. Thank you and well done!

This little gem is a must have for the administrators tool kit!

For me this is one of the most important extensions. I've been using it for a long time, on many sites, without any trouble. I choose Excellent and that's what it is!

While you may be able to use Hosting File Explorers, FTP Apps and various other apps...none have worked as great as this one when it comes to editing files with hardened permissions.

I had a component that would simply not let me change, edit or replace any portion of the file or the file altogether using various methods (FTP, Host Dir, HTTP), but JoomlaXplorer let me edit/write into document directly which to me has proven invalueable and instrumental when one needs to make quick changes on the fly!

A must have for those who truly seek a hassle-free approach!

Where have you been all my life? (or at least for my first 5 Joomla sites!)I've experimented with a dozen different components to do everything from back up my HTML folder to change file permissions to move a site into a subfolder. This one component did them all in minutes! I love the FTP mode too!

this component should become Joomla core.

JoomlaXplorer should be part of Joomla Core. I use it everyday to access the system files. Congratulations.

JoomlaXplorer is a first class component... highly recommended. This should be made a standard part of Joomla imo.

I have used it for several tasks. Today I am doing some external file edits and wanted to back up a Joomla installation. My server access panel lets me backup the entire site but not individual installations. JoomlaXplorer did the job easily including downloading to my local computer. That is excellent.

Thanks a lot for this extension. It has made my life sooo much easier. I use it all the time even for other non Joomla projects on my server. Recently I had to update WordPress and my Menalto Gallery. thanks to JoomlaExplorer I just packed the folders and my backup was done. No need to download 200 MB of pics and files. It's just terrific. I have no idea what I would do without.

After installing joomlaXplorer and trying to perform simple navigation the backend "broke". I could not access any administrator functions. Eventually, I got a 404 error.

The front end still worked fine.

Discovered that deleting the cookies for my domain allowed me to access the backend again.

Tried joomlaXplorer again. The backend "broke" again.

Deleted the cookies. After logging into the back end I was able to uninstalled joomlaXplorer.

I must have a component or pluging that is incompatible with joomlaXplorer.

It is a shame, I really could have used this component.
