AJAX Header Rotator for flash-like image rotation!
*** NOW updated to version 2.3 (see changelog below) ***

The "AJAX Header Rotator" module offers a smart and eye-candy image rotating mechanism (or slideshow in plain English) for the masses! It is an alternative to Flash image rotation scripts, which are sometimes difficult to implement. The module borrows the nice effects from such scripts, but uses javascript (the JQuery library in particular) to auto-"magically" rotate images from any given folder!

It's actually a simple to use module, which adds to the overall look of your Joomla! website.

Check out a demo at http://demo.joomlaworks.gr or at http://www.clipart.gr for a real world example!

If you want to show your support please rate and comment on the Module, here, in the Joomla! Extensions website.

The "AJAX Header Rotator" Module for Joomla 1.0.x is released under the GNU/GPL license. Have fun!

*************************************************
*** Version 2.3 Changelog (January 6th, 2007) ***
*************************************************
- Minor code fixes (for more "strict" server setups).
- Fixed the "bullet" issue, occuring in some users' websites (due to CSS conflicts with their template).
Enjoy!

***************************************************
*** Version 2.2 Changelog (December 15th, 2006) ***
***************************************************
- Minor bug fixes.
- Now the AJAX Header Rotator can display without conflicting with other javascript libraries, like Mootools, Moo.fx, Prototype etc. The only thing you need to do is move the script call to jquery.js in your template.
- You can now choose to enable/disable the "master" link of the rotating images.
- If you enable the "master link", you can now choose if it will open in a new or the same page.
- The "cannot redeclare..." error appearing in some server setups is fixed.

**************************************************
*** Version 2.0 Changelog (December 4th, 2006) ***
**************************************************
- Added the ability to have multiple instances of the "AJAX Header Rotator" module in the same page. That means you can rotate images in different module positions, on the same page, something that was not possible with the previous version of the module! You obviously need to insert different IDs for each module instance!
- Added a "master" link to the rotating images (per rotator instance, of course). Useful when you want the user to click on the rotator and get redirected to e.g. the "products" page.
- Added width and height definitions for images being rotated.
- Added the ability for the user to select the display order of the images being rotated (in sequence or randomly).
- Now using JQuery.
- Updated documentation to reflect new changes and additional credits/copyrights.

****************************************************
*** Version 1.1 Changelog (September 23rd, 2006) ***
****************************************************
Today we are releasing version 1.1 of the "AJAX Header Rotator" Module. This new version fixes some styling options and also we have corrected the issue of empty "slides", caused when other non image files exist in the same directory where the images (for rotation) are stored. Such files could be thumbs.db (generated on windows machines) or just the index.html file generated from Joomla's Media Manager.

Sweet thing by 911, October 29, 2006
I like this Modul a lot! Great work. But I have to use a flash rotator at this time because the Ajax Header Rotator Modul is not showing up on all Modul position of my template. A feature request from my side is a random mode. The header starts always at the same picture. A modus for complete random displaying would be nice.

Owner's reply:
Display order (random or in sequence) has been added in version 2.0 of the module!

Very easy, great support by akolar, October 13, 2006
Install it, point it to a folder with your images, sit back and enjoy.

And the developer is extremely helpful. 5 star component if header rotator is what you are looking for.

As easy as it says by rockyoropeza, October 11, 2006
No more can I say about this great extension, easy to install, and works FLAWLESSLY. Congratulations to Joomla Works

Clean & tidy with good support by tr1, October 2, 2006
just installed the latest version of this module (1.1) but as an inexperienced user of Joomla I didn't know how to apply it to the banner of my site (as my banner is not in a module position). Posted my query on the Joomla forum and got a lightning fast reply from one of the developers who provided me with a step by step guide on how to do it.
Now it does exactly what I want it to do exactly where I want it to do it!
thanks guys - 5/5

Works good but... by madmike, September 10, 2006
So this module works real good, but for some reason I was getting an extra image in the rotation. I finally found out that the rotator was pulling the "index.html" file from the same directory. The index.html was being created by the joomla media manager. I did not have ftp access so i uploaded via the media manager. I end up using joomlaxplorer to go in and delete the index.html. Which is recreated when I upload more images thru the media manager :(. Can the developer add a warning about the media manager besides the thumb.db file from windows. :)
Thanks!

Ajax ? by shumisha, September 2, 2006
Hello !

Nice work of packaging, but the author should give credit to the developper of the slideshow himself : SmoothSlideshow, by JonDesign (http://smoothslideshow.jondesign.net).
Also, there is no ajax involved in this module, and images are not loaded dynamically, but all at the same time upon loading the page. Be aware also that as the slideshow code is not "objectified", you will only be able to run one show per page

Works great in IE by hungup, September 1, 2006
It works flawlessly in IE, but it always break my template in Firefox.

I would like to request that the pictures be hyperlinked.

Owner's reply:
We'll include such a feature in the next release... ;)

Works as expected! by hleen, September 1, 2006
Hi, as always, this new module of Joomlaworks works excellent. No installation problems, no hassle.
Please note that in the images directory no subdirectory may be present.
