ReMOSef is a component designed for Mambo that implements Search Engine Friendly URLs. It provides an identical interface to sef_ext.php files to SEF Advance, so it should be possible to use any such file as are available with ReMOSef. You should not normally alter the file sef.php, but please study carefully the comments in the file sef.custom.php where you may make changes so that ReMOSef will handle URLs in the way you want for your site. In particular, you may need extra translates to make non-English languages work well. Support for SEF URLs for Mambo content and for Remository 3.2x is integrated in ReMOSef. ReMOSef will probably work with Joomla, but has only been tested with Mambo. A new support forum has been created for any queries that may arise. This version contains a correction to a bug that prevented page control from working in content. - Produce highly readable URLs for browsing around the file repository. - Give the impression that the repository is a structured set of directories. - Show files by their titles. - ReMOSef also has the ability to provide Search Engine Optimised URLs for ordinary Mambo content. The technology is available in two alternative packages. There is the Remository plug-in that you can use if you want to work with SEF Advance. It is a sef_ext.php file that conforms to the SEF Advance interface to provide neat URLs for Remository. For this, download the ReMOSef plug-in. Or, if your site is weighted towards the file repository, you can have the complete ReMOSef component. It provides all the functions of the standard Mambo SEF and has Remository URL optimisation integrated. In addition, it supports the use of sef_ext.php files for other components. Even if you don't have those, you can nominate user-friendly names for components, and RemoSEF will carry out the translations. (open-source as of 07 Nov 2005)

Good Bye Numbers by YouTheBoss, December 7, 2006
Kudos to the developer for a good fix to the Joomla number fetish. I had to do a simple hack for integration with CB, but now my content is showing keyWORDS. What a concept!

same title - same url by trichnosis, July 9, 2006
i have used this component with my "life history -biography" site there were people with same name so ReMOSef gives same url for different content

because of this i have removed this component

Re: d.subba by princy88, July 8, 2006
Did you had mod_rewrite enabled. Works great for me. I have 1000's of items on my site & I was having performance issues with 404_SEFx and OPEN_SEF. Found this & it is working much better (using it for a week now).It is fairly customizable with the sef_custom.php file.

Works fine - see demo by counterpoint, June 5, 2006
I don't know what d.subba did to get a problem. I've just created a test site at http://joomla.remository.com. All that was done there was a standard install of Joomla 1.0.8 with sample data. Then install ReMOSef component. Edit the htaccess.txt file for third party SEF in accordance with the comments, rename to .htaccess. You can see that the demo site links correctly to content. If you do observe any faults, please report them.

Addendum - Did not work by , May 14, 2006
Sorry my earlier review was in haste.

It did not work, it renamed the URLs as desired but when the links were clicked the user stays on the homepage and nothing happens.

Works very well. Thank you.

Just needed to know whether it'll work for components? If so, how? Lastly, how much can it be customised?

Highly recommended.

Worked fine by david_uk, April 22, 2006
despite being labelled as a Mambo component it works fine under Joomla.

You'll need to hack .htaccess file and uncomment the 3rd party section and recomment out the Standard SEF section.
