BSQ Sitestats is a site statistics module that is lightweight on the Front End but offers both tabular and graphical summaries of site visitors' sessions on the backend. Summaries include: *Graphical charts of visitors over any time period *Top Referrers (and top referring domains) *Top pages viewed *Top visitors *Top users *Top users today *Top web browsers *Top languages *Visitor session tracking (last 100 hits) *Visitor city, country, geolocational information *search engine keywords frequency tracking *Daily /weekly/monthly summaries Other great features: - Spam filtering for IP addresses, domains, and referrers. - Stat padding so you don't have to start over when you switch to BSQ. - Can track user only hits - Can ignore hits from search engines. - Can reset stats when you want to start over. - Stat scrubbing for applying new spam filters to existing stats. - Show URLs as page titles. - All charts are flash-based for maximum performance - Database was refactored in version 2.0.x for performance - Password-protected RSS Feeds for latest referrers, latest visitors - Persistent component preferences - Phone Home feature to check for new versions and share stats (like g2bride does) - Menu Protection to deal with Itemid spoofing LANGUAGES: English, Dutch, German

Great but dont like the communication by airbag, September 2, 2006

Hello, I have used the older version of this component for a few months and was excited when this version came out. I installed it and liked what I saw.
I have one reason for ditching this componet though. That is that it seems to communicate with the authors websites even when this feature is turned off as an option in the settings.
I want powerful stats for my website for my eyes only, not anyone elses.
Besides this, a very powerful stats component. astats pro is also a good option.

Excellent by osarusan, August 9, 2006

Great component, very easy to use. Requires very little configuration -- just a minor edit of the index.php file, and an additional component (Joomla Lib) installation.

I hope in the future we can see support for other types of SEF URLs. Currently it supports Joomla's core SEF, but if it could work along with Open-SEF, that would be absolutely fantastic.

Keep up the good work! And thanks so much for a great component!

Differences between Beta and Alpha releases by Sevenhelmets, July 14, 2006

Regarding my earlier review (theres no way of editing it) I would like to clarify a few points.

I installed an "older" BSQ Sitestats version 1.8.0 which is classed as "stable" under the downloads page. This works straight off the bat, so if you are interested in something simple that will work straight away, this is for you.

Newer versions 2.0 and 2.1 are still in beta phase so DO have little quirks, and unfortunately you also need to install a further component that Brent and Michael created - Joomlalib. This looks promising, but it can get confusing as to get graphics (pie chart or graph etc) working you'll need to install a FURTHER module for Joomlalib. Unfortunately I was unable to get this to work, and on a couple of my sites that I tried to install it on it completely didn't work. I'm not sure why, but as I said, unless you are willing to work at it, I'd recommend sticking with the stable releases in the meantime.

In summary, version 1.8 is very stable and does the job. Newer versions are more powerful with more features, but require a little bit more work to get them to work etc etc.

Great component by Sevenhelmets, July 12, 2006

I must confess I have not tried any other stats components, but as far as I'm aware BSQ is pretty much the only one you'll need. Very straight-forward to install and get running, just install the component and whichever modules you want. You can of course choose which modules you publish and to what level.

I was looking for an extension that would show "top domain referrer", and this fits the bill perfectly.

I had to do a couple of modifications to the programming and such, and Brent was VERY quick to reply to questions on the support forum, so support is really good as well, which makes this a HIGHLY RECOMMENDED component to install.

Pretty good by Freke, July 6, 2006

Well using the Joomla CMS and having lots of visitors per day - then you need to track them. Both to figure out what features they like and what features you can remove.

I have tried both JoomlaStats and BSQ Stats for my Joomla website and my conclusion in short is:

BSQ wins because it's lighter on the database (makes the site faster)

Over some months JoomlaStats have lagged my DB very bad which in result makes the website un-useable by the users... so not very good.

BSQ on the other hand does not give as much info / stats on the users but it doesn't lag the website.

So I picked BSQ because I would rather have lesser stats but a website the users like to use because it's fast... than more stats but a slow website (imo slow website = no users)

Therefore I give high rating to BSQ but also a wish that BSQ will keep the DB queries low but build on some more features for us to measure the users with...

Wow!! by mailon, May 2, 2006

Everything I needed !! Looks great, works perfectly. I can even use a few features and modules seperately, just like the hit or unique visitors counter, that I was looking for.

Only problem was that when I activated the Graph option, without having the JPGraph component installed, I received a "Install JPGraph component to use graph option" error message and I couldn't enter to the component to deselect the option, plus it messed up my front page! So I had 2 options in front of me, either uninstall the component and ditch it or install JPGraph. Fortunatelly I took my second option and am happy about it cause in fact, the component rules!

Good, but AWStats is better by azuriel, April 6, 2006

Nice easy install, and the optional graphing module was a breeze as well. Provided a decent amount of statistical information, enough for basic things like hit counting and popularity tracking. However, AWStats is far far superior and not much harder to set up. Ask your hosting provider about it (many offer it), or set it up yourself if you have shell.
