A Very Effective Component by sterlingsr, November 7, 2007

I have found this to be a great free component. It is a little narrow in it's job classifications but since it is very well written I found it easy to edit a few files to make it suit my purposes. It's only shortcomings are a missing title bar tag, searchability from the Joomla search component and logging. I will take a look at modifying to include these when I have time and I am not a PHP genius by any means but as I said the code is VERY sell laid out. I would encourage the author to keep up the good work on this as it has been over 200 days since it was last updated.
Thanks for the product. It's in many ways superior to the commercial stuff out there.

Product does not work "out of the box" and requires code hacking. It installed fine, backend administrator allows you to add job classified ads, but nothing shows up on the front end. We kept getting fatal error messages every time my users tried to view a job posting.
I made numerous attempts to seek tech support from the developer via email and forum, but got no help. Was unable to even register at the JX Development website because of a system glitch at their site. Very frustrating.
It appears that this Jobline project is dead, it hasn't been updated in a long time, and the developer no longer provides support. I even offered to make a hefty donation (pay money for support) but received no response.

Access Level Problem by qneal78710, September 19, 2007
|
I love this little application but I have only one complaint. When I choose the "Restrict who can post jobs to this access level" and set it to a certain level and then go back to a test user who's not within that access level, the user is still able to post jobs. This would mean any and everybody can post jobs.

Not bad but not finished by ictus, September 11, 2007

It works, and jobs can be added quite quickly and easily.
Not having categories is a BIG issue, and an update was mentioned, but no news on that as yet.
You can submit a application without filling any fields in, so you have to code that yourself or live with it.
The support site seems very quite, and there have been a few questions about v2, which haven't been answer.
Is this a cold project?

Impressed so far by SnapNet, July 27, 2007

This seems like a very nice component! I just installed it and so far have been impressed by it. I'm going to try and change some of the title names to customize it a bit to my site, so I hope that goes smooth. Thanks for the component!

why not improve it further? by baijianpeng, July 15, 2007

This component can publish some job posts. But it is too weak to build a job hunting website. It is only suitable for a small company to post its recruitment ads. It is a pity that it has no CAPTCHA to fight spams.
Even for such a small function, it should has the feature of category. I think it can be improved further to be able to build a job publishing and searching website, whick need detailed categories and advanced search feature.

Categories... by Cronax, July 5, 2007

Seems like a solid base, but I think this component would really benefit from categories...being able to put jobs into categories and browsing by category can make things easier for larger websites or communities that have for instance multiple projects that each need different job openings filled.

I do have a few problems with extra fields but hoping that your site will be back up as there seems to be no support anywhere as yet.

Works great for me by ptkho, April 22, 2007

Just want to say this is just what I needed. After installing I had to tweak a little, but that goes very easy. Now using in practice and it's working great for me. Top component!

Easy to Intsall works well by jaymcd, April 14, 2007

I like this module. It is easy to install and work well.
I am having some trouble figuring out how to have the "Apply for Job" button show up like it does in the demo though.

it;'s allright by samerkamal, March 8, 2007

something to consider if you're trying to install a community site. easy to install and let's the admins know there's a new job pending to request by sending them an email. I think the interface is not that professional

Great work!!! Am using 1.1.1, Will upgrade to 1.1.2 once their website is active. i have few comments, grateful if you could incorporate.
1) Last Date of Application could be added as a column next to Date posted;
2) Possibility of attaching the CV while applying online;
3) Instructions on how to upgrade for administrator;
I hope your site will be active soon.
Many thanks,
Murls Owner's reply: Admin can add their own fields in Jobline, so a Last Date of Application can easily be added. Will consider adding it in a future version though.
Uploading a CV file with application will be available in the next version.
Upgrade instructions are available in the readme, and they are expanded in the next version. The upgrade will hopefully also be easier.
I'm still waiting for my new server, but it will hopefully be online soon again.
