There's a thread on the forum about this with some suggestions, none of which worked for quite a few people of which I'm one and then discussion just ends without any further resolution suggestions.

Google Analytics Tracking Module for Virtuemart (Joomla! 1.0.x) is an excellent extension - and it is so easy to install and set up that it took me less than 30 seconds!
Google Analytics give you a wealth of information on your visitors and how they visit, browse and exit your site, but the code has to be installed on every page, and in the correct position.
Google Analytics Tracking Module from www.estimetemplates.com takes all the work out of this for you. All you need to do is insert your Analytics _uacct code which looks something like UA-246810-1, select the module position, and the module does the rest.
The Virtuemart version will also track your Virtuemart purches - brilliant!

You can't go wrong with Google Analytics. You get the stats you need and in a nice graphic format. This is an easy to use module to add Google Analytics code to your site.
Don't forget that Google updated the analytics code about 2 months ago, so grab the latest code for your site to make sure you benefit from all the features.

Works well but just one thing by smiffy6969, January 22, 2008

The module works great, it's nice and simple to use, easy to install, and leaves the holding of stats data to google, my first choice as I don't want to hold tracking data in my database, tracking data easily turns into an ugly huge monster.
Just one point, it fails W3C validation for XHTML (trans) due to incorrectly used slashes in the script declaration (not checked html validation), I run a charity website so accessability and standards compliency is importent to me (also being a web dev too), I believe using web standards on sites forces browser companies to support them (IE i'm looking at you!!) and also means your not running your browser in quirks mode too.
I have solved this if anyone wants the updated mod file, you can contact me through this site, I have also left a note on the forum of the creater pointing this out to them.
Now i'm using this module with validation so very happy with it indeed, great work keep it up!.

Great App works perfectly with Google Analytics, and places the code in the correct place. Make Sure when you are inputing your GA account number you include the "GA-" otherwise it will not work.

This is a easy to use module.
Some say put it in the Debug module position but if you have Debug disabled in your Global config it won't work (in my experience with RocketTheme Themes).
I just put it in a position that is at the bottom of the page such as footer or the last user module. Just look at your site preview in-line with positions and pick the best one for you.

Nice and useful module! by holyfieldstudios, April 5, 2007

This module is useful ONLY if you DO NOT WANT to track ENTIRE Joomla CMS based website. If you are interested tracking of ENTIRE website, then that’s smart to use system plug-in, because on that way the Google tracking code is included on your website header at all times.
So if you want track your site partially – use module, if you want track ENTIRE WEBSITE – use system plug-in (like Google Analytics Bridge) Owner's reply: Dear holyfieldstudios,
Let us know, if you have problems using our module. Tracking module will track all sites, if you choose 'all pages' from menu item link list in the module settings, even 3rd party extensions.

I installed this module without any difficulty on my website and set up my Google analytics account. Then I can read report from Google about the analytics.
It's a great idea to use a module instead of manually insert the Google analytics code into EVERY page.
Thank you Estime! Best wishes to you.

The power of information by Xamaba, March 23, 2007

There are many statistics packages available for websites and although most are easily installed it's always a question where can I cram in the tracking code in Joomla.
I have found the extension to be fantastic in the information it allows Google analytics to present on the visitors to my sites. It was easily installed and the Google analytics account was quickly setup then there was the 24hr wait for the first numbers to come in to Google analytics. Good statistics should be on everyone's must have list.
