The calendar works fine with my published iCal ics file except the details stored in the NOTES area fail to be displayed completely. I'm adding URLs in the notes that link to Google Maps for events that are happening at various venues. The only data that is displayed is the text 'Map to event:', the URL should follow on the next line, but there is nothing. I have updated the iWebCal.php file to fix the issue with the JInputFilter to JFilterInput. That fixed the error about the class not existing. If someone can fix the problem I'm having with the notes, then this extension will ROCK!

I fixed a few bugs in this thing and made it somewhat workable, but when I tried to contact the author, through various email addresses, I've received no responses.
I even offered to take over coding this project if I could get some help... nothing.

I have recently installed this component on a Joomla 1.5 stable system. Hoping to be able to display an Airset-generated (www.airset.com) and Airset-hosted .ics calendar.

However, it doesn't quite work as expected. If I actually download the .ics file and upload it too my Joomla server, it works. There is an annoying "feature" that doens't display the events without times (all-day events) when switching from the initial month-view to either a week or day view. Interestingly enough, when you select a day from the monthly view, it displays the all-day events just fine. And then AFTER that initial click into the monthly view, you can switch to week or day views and all the events show up just like I expected them to.

Anyways, the bigger problem is when I put in the URL for the .ics (hosted on the Airset.com server), the calendar doesn't get displayed, only the URL.

Any insight would be appreciated.

We use ICS files for more than just a "calendar", we use them for information sharing. This component allows me to seemlessly integrate that information in a calendar-based format. Wonderful job of the author porting iWebCal into Joomla! KUDOS!

this is very close to working on 1.5 RC3, and with a few minutes and a couple commented lines it does except for the event details.

it looks VERY nice and I would love for it to be updated to be fully working, possibly with an easy option to change the purple to some other colors.

I'm using the google calendars to show events, and this WOULD be the ideal component...

This is a fabulous component, I only wish I could get it to work properly!

I was new to the whole idea of ical, but now I am convinced this is essential content for my sites. This component displays the calanders, looks great and is totally intuitive to use. Its a breeze to set up too.

I just have problems on my sites because I also use the 'tags' component and its matching Xajax plugin. There seems to be some incompatibility between these and Iwebcal that I am trying to resolve - I hope I can.

Sorry to hear about the Xajax conflict; hopefully the original author can provide some insight as to why this happens.

I have been monitoring iWebCal and many other calendering web "applications" for some time now and I have always been impressed by the style of this calendar. Simply slick!
Finally we have a great (ical)reader for Joomla.

iCal is the standard for calendar information exchange that has been around for some time now. Still there are very few web applications that work with it. Finally this year we seem to get some momentum now that Google is behind it.

The good
nice slick style that displays calendar information in the way we are used to.

the wish list
- the details in a calendar item do not pop up properly yet.
- the reload calendar file does not link properly
- some more parameters for example to create a link to subscribe, or to define the width, without menu, the cal name.

Really a very good looking calendar, simple to install and use, and if you set your template's encoding to UTF-8, it should even work with accented caracters ;)
Export your .ics file, upload, and there you are with all your dates online!

in my opinion the best designed calendar usable in Joomla. It does what it says and looks nice and its very easy to publish ical calendars to Joomla. You can ad as many different calendars on different menulinkss as you want. Would make it excellent, if you import multiple calendars to one menulink calendar (maybe in 2.2?) and if registered users could upload their calendars in frontend and subscribe to some calendars already published…
