TH is a ticket system/project management tool that's simple and fast. It can be easily adapted to fit different industries. It can manage multiple tasks for multiple people, located in multiple places. - Prioritizes tasks - Shares files and ideas - Tracks and reports time used Create software, run a campaign, coordinate volunteer organizations, store model/vendor information or manage customer leads ... they're all a good fit for Taskhopper.

This is a great component. It was fairly easy to get working and it is definitely useful. I am a "Jack-of-all-trades" - web development, graphic design, data & project management - for a small magazine publishing team and this component has greatly helped us collaborate and keep each issue managed nicely.
I understand that a new Version 2.0 is on the way and I hope that the team could consider some of my suggestions.
1) User management. This is where I feel the component needs the most work, and the development team has openly admitted this so I am sure they are on the road to enhancing it. There need to be user filtering (by group) and an easier way to update project permissions. Perhaps an auto-update for permissions, for example: When you create a new project, the auto-update users are automatically given permission to access it. I have a list of users that I want to always have access to all projects and it becomes a hassle to have to manually add permissions for 20-30 users every time.
2)Management for the "action needed" drop-down. The option exists for categories and timelog types.
3)New Task start with logged hours: A field to add logged hours when creating a new task. Sometimes a task may have already begun and it would be helpful to enter an amount of hours already spent on the new task.
My hat goes off to the developers, I can't wait for V2.

| The Best Task Manger by KristopherK, March 24, 2008 |

The installation was a little rocky, couldn’t see the user menu on the front-end. But after a couple emails to Kale over at Taskhopper. He logged in and corrected the problem! All this service for a FREE component? I’m very impressed.
It turns out that I didn’t install the 4 mods… So it was user’s error – mine and not the component.
After that, the system works great! I definitely recommend this task system, it’s the best by far from the others I have tried. Nice Job!

My criteria for a great Joomla extension - rich functionality, easy to work with, reliable, and a feeling of indispensibility once you start to use it, like Joomla itself.
Savvy Joomla users know the list - JCE, DocMan/Mjaz, JoomlXplorer, DBQ, JoomlaBoard, MyContent, SlickRSS, etc.
Well, add TaskHopper to that list.
So solid that they claim it doesn't work in PHP5 or MySQL5, where in fact it works flawlessly in that environment for us. It's the first time in the Joomla world that we've experienced something that works when they say it doesn't. Too often, it's the opposite.
The functions are clever and complete but simple to use, demonstrating good up-front design. It's always an eye-opener to find a commercial-quality component under GPL license. Kudos to the team at APIN.

| Great product by tjorvi, December 28, 2007 |

This one of the most benefit joomla extension I have used! I have Taskhopper now installed at 5 customer sites and my company is using it as a primary task request system. I have used this for one year now and it is very stable.
Great work! Great product!

| Looked promising...but is not compatible with MySQL 5.0.x by ijon, December 20, 2007 |
|
...what makes me disappointed :(.
From Taskhopper site: "Taskhopper requires MySQL 4.1.x and is NOT compatible with PHP 5.x. (It does not run on mySQL 4.0) "
Well, I tried to install it, anyway. Installation went fine, but then, when I tried to set it backend it gave me some error.
I'm looking forward for ver 2.0 - because it seems to be a great component - a great pity I wasn't able to use it :(

I ran for State Rep in the 26th district and we needed a quick solution
to handle our campaign, both to disseminate info and handle a massive
volunteer effort.
Internally we needed to be able to assign and track tasks assigned to
volunteers, staff members and to me. It had to be something that
was simple to use and quick to deploy. Externally, we needed to
be able to maintain a smooth flow of information between the volunteers
and my staff.
Taskhopper was simple to install. Our web guy had it configured in
about 30 minutes and every volunteer was able to grasp the concept
because every urgent task used email to keep people informed.
Taskhopper helped us organize, manage and recruit. It's an ideal tool
for keeping lots of people all on the same page.
And since I lost the race (not because of Taskhooper but because of more bad choices by Michigan voters) I continue to use it to manage my customer's IT development projects. I give it two thumbs up!

| Finally - a joomla com that you can't be without! by lavalamp, November 19, 2007 |

If you the nature of your work requires ANY kind of task management, then this is the component for you. The developers of Taskhopper were kind to let a tool that they use internally out on world!
We required a task management tool that was able to track resources, assign and delegate tasks, and be able to do basic reporting so that we can bill our customers for our web design work.
Taskhopper is now a regular part of our business process and it is what we use to communicate service requests with our customers as well as the project management of development efforts internally.
I can't wait for the next version!

Just installed Task Hopper. Installation went without a hitch and the project looks good. Once I started to use the project I noticed that there is no was to "Search" for task.
This would seem to be a basic function of a task manager.
James Owner's reply: Hey James,
The search function is not all that visible but it's there! Look for the Filter[+] link in the upper left corner of the task window.

Really excellent program. I run a Virtual Assistant company and `providing this service to my clients and my client's client completely sets me apart from the other Virtual Assistants in the Business. Thank you, Thank you, Thank you. I did not see any place on your site for a donation as I would give you one. You deserve it.

| Powerful task/project management tool by ocloren, August 3, 2007 |
|
After plenting of thinking on how we would manage our tasks/projects between the multiple "freelancers" and "contractors", I tried a couple "TimeSheet" components and then found "TaskHopper".
My first impression of it was great. You can create the project categories as well as the tasks for that category. It really can make the management organized. As well, you can add comments and attachments from the front-end.
What I really need is the ability to say "Here's how much time the project is scoped for" and then the user assigned to the project can say "here's how much time I spent on the project". This is doable but it's on a running timer. It makes it more challenging if the user doesn't click the stop button. I'd rather have the ability to pick a start and finish time, or simply just a "number of hours" worked from a list.
Overall, it's a really great tool. But, it the few uncustomizable options leave me trying to find something more suitable. if it had the above ability, it would be a perfect solution.

| This could be the best project management extention... by HanZolo, June 18, 2007 |

unfortunately from my experience it's rather buggy. It might work fine on some configs, on others it just keeps failing. For some obscure reason it does not appear to get some basic variables like the baseurl and the prefix from the system, and so the frontend becomes pretty much unusable...
Too bad because this is a great extension, maybe not the best looking one (the css needs some love) but the functionality is much better than any other I've tried, especially counting the great frontend module that helps a lot in getting a quick overview of the tasks and projects.

Installed fine and worked fine, I liked what it could do but it caused a 500 internal server error.
Would consider trying it again on its next release with bugfixes.

I get this component to install, but, I see nothing either in administration or in the front end. I get a blank (white)page. I tried about ten Rocket Theme Templates and get the same results every time.
Is this done this way by design? So that you have to call for support?
