ionFiles is a simple download management tool for Joomla. ionFiles tracks downloads and lists files all in one place. There are no categories to browse through! Perfect for anyone in need of a download manager but doesn't want the category listings. For support please post a new thread at http://forum.codecall.net/ionfiles/

Fantastic for simple downloads by jmystaki, March 18, 2008
We needed to post files to our site based on categories - brochures, and product information. Perfect !

Easy to install, configure and up and running in a few minutes.

I emailed Jordan for assistance numerous times for Joomla 1.5 (recently supported) and the help was fantastic.

Great for simple downloads by drleper, September 14, 2007
Good component for a short list of downloads. There is no file upload function (you just put in the file URL), but this works fine for me as I am serving up large files which are greater than the PHP upload limit on my server anyway. The developer is quite quick to respond on the forums too.

Be careful with your data by hal9000, August 12, 2007
Version 1.7 to 2.2 : loss of all data during update...

Owner's reply:
Issues resolved with updating in Version 3.0. Updates will not cause loss of data.

hmm... not the best I've ssen by HanZolo, May 12, 2007
The extension is OK, but not more... lacks an upload function, you have to enter all the data yourself, and on my install it just would not work (saying "no file selected"), which btw. is a problem I've seen on other sites too, with this component.

very helpful by raghed, April 24, 2007
i think that ionFiles is very helpful.. i was searching for one like this.
i think it's need some enhancment to be more powerful. like show a tumbnail for each file. and make a [more..] page using this component.

Straightforward but not complete by lastboyscout, March 31, 2007

The component looks en feels simple and straightforward. But it does the job not completely. There's no filemanagement at all. No means for uploading files and only a field for filling in a local (webserver)path. If there was only a dialog for selecting files (already present) in the webserver filesystem it would be a very easy to use component. Now it's hardly usable.

Owner's reply:
Hello,

Thanks for your review. ionFiles was intended to be a simple download client from sites and locations that may not reside on your local server. This means it is highly unlikely that it will ever support an upload script. Browsing for a file may be a very viable possibility though.

OK so far by keveen, March 27, 2007

This will be good when I can browse for a file and when the program will automatically populate the Administration form. At the moment it takes ages just to register one file. The end result looks nice but there are other extensions that do a quicker job. So next stage is to make it easy to upload a file perhaps with drag and drop or at least File/Browse instead of having to work out the full url manually.

Don't mean to be negative - I'm sure it will be top notch in the end!

Does The Job by Rafmeister, December 11, 2006

Recommend this to small sites with limited amount of downloads and categories.

Fits neatly into many if not all joomla templates with no alterations required.

It's good to see a file management component that is simplified, and this is!

Try it out.
