OpenID
Authenticate on OPENID enabled Sites using your DOMAIN URL (mydomain.com)... OpenID is an open, decentralized, free framework for user-centric digital identity. OpenID starts with the concept that anyone can identify themselves on the Internet the same way websites do-with a URI (also called a URL or web address). Since URIs are at the very core of Web architecture, they provide a solid foundation for user-centric identity. The first piece of the OpenID framework is authentication -- how you prove ownership of a URI. Today, websites require usernames and passwords to login, which means that many people use the same password everywhere. Useless Plugin? by Redfern, April 20, 2007

Really, i downloaded and installed this component, but...I don't see if is really working
Author says
"INSTALL simply copy paste the code below before your closing tag and change the parameters to match your openid values

"
But...that OpenID provider? External Provider? Then, if i still need to use external, official OpenID provider, For that purpose i need to use this useless component
This component is NOT OpenID server implementation and NOT OpenID consumer.
This component do nothing!

A bit ironic? by ccondrup, December 28, 2006

Ok, I have an OpenID from earlier, that works fine on various OpenID-enabled websites.

1. As I understand it, this addon is supposed to make Joomla websites OpenID-enabled? That's great! - But one thing, why isn't your own site using this, so I can login using my OpenID? I still had to create a new account on your site...

Is there another demo site somewhere?

2. Or is this addon just for using your Joomla website *as* an OpenID-id, instead of registering on myopenid.net or other OpenID-providers?

Please update the description to be a bit more specific. Thanks!
