 The first video component for Joomla is of course Seyret. It was born because of our needs, but when we published it, the Joomla community really liked it and encouraged us to add new features to it. Now it is feature rich and this developement process will continue. When we say that there are some sites based on only this extension, you can easily understand the value of Seyret.
Let's have a look at some of the features:
First of all we have a very good installation and upgrade system implemented. As all our users agree, the installation and upgrade process are very simple. During the upgrade process, all of your videos and information remain intact.
After you create categories, it is time to add some videos to your site. It generally takes only a few seconds to add a new video. Just copy the video link from one of the supported video sites and paste it to Seyret. That's it! Your intelligent friend will glean all information pertaining to that video and publish immediately after your submission. We currently support 35 video servers, like youtube, google, revver, break etc, and more will come. Also you can use this component to add local videos. As a new feature in 0.2.7 - wmv, mpg, mp3, swf files are also supported. You can upload your flash games and make a game gallery. Don't forget the first aim of this component is to provide a video extension to Joomla, so for a game site, there may lack some features.
Another important feature of Seyret is video download option. After you enable video download option from configuration panel, your users will be able to download your videos from video servers. All of our video server plugins are download option enabled.
Browsing is AJAX based as default. But from config panel you can disable it to make your site more browsable by search bots.
Seyret is fully customizable with its theme system. Just edit template files and css file. We will provide some more themes after Seyret becomes more stabile and feature rich.
We have implemented an advanced permission system. Using the configuration panel, you can define almost every parameter to your user groups. It is very flexible and can be used with or without JACL installed.

You guys did an excellent piece of work for video fans. And all under GPL. There is so much customization in the component that it takes a while to learn it (it took me about 10 min) and now I have fully functional site with videos on it ordered nicely in categories, featured videos, most viewed videos etc... |

I have spent several hours trying to get this component installed, and am close to giving up and trying another video component. After researching the issues I'm having, I have found that I'm not alone. I kindly suggest that the author of this tool develops some sort of troubleshooting checklist and installation tips and includes it with future releases. |

I was searching for something like this. First I saw Achtube, but it was very expensive and I believe people are lazy and sometimes they don't want to upload at all. And for achtube you need FFMPEG and stuff like that...
Then I accidentily found this and I was amazed by the demo page. This was exactly what I needed :) The installation went fine, but first I saw alot of errors since there was no database created. I don't know how but a page came up where I could create tables. After that it works fine. The diagnostics page is attle weird, every folder is 777 but it gives me a yellow "!". The uploading works great though.
I didn't put the component online for the public yet. I first want to customize some icons so they match with layout. I'm sure it will be very populair, and when it is I will donate :)
I have one little feature request though. Is it possible to have a custom media player? So it won't use Windows Media Player..(mostly because of the ActiveX popup) it will look neat too if it has I think. And maybe use some embed Flash tricks so you don't need to activate the flash/active stuff each time you watch a movie (UFO for example, is a very good script to do that)
Hopefully you will continue to work on this great component, it realy is special!

This component make video sharing on our own website possible.
I like this component so much that I had made a Chinese translation for it.
If the author can add more video sharing providers as well as more format to be allowed for uploading, such as .avi, .wmv, .rm, .rmvb, .mov and .mpg, this will be perfect. |

I'm no php or CMS Master by any means.
I was seeking a com/mod that would allow my viewers to add video to their profiles. This module allowed that to happen. Very easy to set up and install. It looks pretty good and could use a few more pre-made templates but for now it's Awesome!
I can only suggest that developer add a few codecs to ensure wide compatibility those are = most importantly Mp4 / h264 / MOV for portable players. Also a comprehensive manual text file would be nice with full instructions and administration details would be great...
I do get an error on the "report" button as I'm trying to ensure a "No Porn" policy and need members to report such abuses...
Easy to intergrate with CB and does exactly what I wanted. A way for members to share video's! They can upload and share them within the community and can add links. Accepts Youtube links and etc. Very cool, Very Easy.
Add the Codecs to this pack and it will totally rock!
One more totally rockin thing to think of adding... Flash encoder to help with bandwidth...
Will gladly donate to this components development!!!

Being a developer myself, I really hate to give any poor feedback, furthermore if the product is free, but…
…but I just couldn't have the 0.2.6 component working nor even being to add any video. What ever is the rank of the logged user, front end module doesn't show any usable button or option. This page shows almost only a programming word like "_VIDEOSINALLCATEGORIES". Back end module would at least need some walkthrough.
On the other side, the mambot instead of showing some meaningful options shows only a text box to fill in but as in a puzzle game, you have to guess what to put inside…
Maybe there is a kind of incompatibility in my config but I haven't installed a lot of other addtions in my test site. Now I already uninstalled all Seyret relating add-ons and database tables since I've not much time left for debugging and building a video sharing site was not exactly my purpose.
Concluding: I'm sure this will be a wonderful Joomla extension but certainly need some more time to be useful to anyone. Best wishes for the next releases :) |

A very pro component.
For a video database on your site this is the best.
Give the freedom to your member to add a video in just 2 seconds.
The only - is that the movies list are appearing a little dizzy!
columns maybe is the solution.
