Really good (but one suggestion) by felham, September 13, 2007
This was the best RSS parser I've found. Though I'd like to be able to choose not to display the title at all in the tooltip. I just think this is unnecessary when you already have the title in the feed...

Recommended - but you're on your own by pypo, August 17, 2007
This is a fine extension and the best I found in the RSS category. But you're on your own regarding use. It's not hard. But if you want to change something like the bullets, good luck. Please post if you figure out a way to change the bullets, a seemingly simple issue.

Owner's reply:
Styling issues are generally left to the discretion of the end-users.

try adding this to your template_css.css file via Admin > Site > Template > Edit CSS:

.newsfeed{

list-style-type: none; /*no bullet points*/

}

It's a good module,easy to use. it works on my local server,
but after uploading the project to another server, the moudle
display nothing except the title. I don't know whether it because my operation.

Thank you! by freddyboy, July 18, 2007
This module is pretty much exactly what I was looking for. Simple, easy, flexible, and it works the way it says it does. It's slick!

Works nicely by kingomar, June 8, 2007
I have to hype Slick Rss, because out of the other extensions that I have tried, it worked the best.

A VERY Useful Module by zorkfox, June 5, 2007
Slick RSS is a well-written and easy-to-use module. There were no problems installing or configuring it. I needed to include an RSS feed in a content item, but Joomla's handling of RSS feeds is very basic and not open to much configuration or alteration of appearance. So, I installed Slick RSS, pointed it at the feed I wanted, then used MosModule (a Mambot/plug-in) to read the contents of Slick RSS into the content item, wrapping it with site-specific layout code. The results are very, very slick, indeed. :)

Suggestions...
Because I needed to modify the appearance of the RSS feed slightly, I changed the end of line 277 of mod_slick_rss.php to read: class=\"newsfeed".$moduleclass_sfx."\">\n";

This allows the anchor tag that points to the news source to be styled as easily as other parts of the module (and you can still style other anchor tags in the feed by simply writing a CSS rule for li.newsfeed* a { property: value; }).

Also... even though caching is off by default, I found I had to set the cache timeout to 0 in order for the module to update the feed properly.

UTF-8 and iso-8859-1 flawless import by Kenio, May 21, 2007
I was looking for a rss feeder who manage utf-8 and iso-8859-1 sources. Finally found it. Minor hack to insert a blank line after item description for estetic purpouses only when multiple feeds in list. It works right out of the box.

Great Module by Animetal, May 16, 2007
Its one of the best RSS modules ive tried, but it can be perfect if this can be a component, to publish the RSS in the content and make the titles to load the images just as the module do.

Good Work

Cool module easy to use by cartoon11, May 12, 2007
Excellent and cool to use this module
after me install on mysite.

Works Perfect, First Time by axiom, May 2, 2007
This RSS reader is exactly what I was looking for. It can be published anywhere on the site, including the frontpage which the default com_newsfeed doesn't do. I would recommend this RSS reader to anyone.

Excellent module by viet4777, April 23, 2007
The Unicode utf-8 Vietnamese characters seem to work well on. That the best RSS module I have found!.

Only there are some case the chars don't display correctly!
See more at http://forum.joomla.org/index.php/topic,162980.0.html .

Please give me a support!
Thanks.

Slick indeed... by Asha, April 8, 2007
One of those dream modules which install with one click, then customize easily, and just... pretty much works.

Nice work, thank you.

Just one thing - appears to have some trouble in IE with characters e.g. &amp ; and &apos ; - but once that's resolved should be absolutely perfect.

Very slick. by Sully, March 17, 2007
Excellent module, the UTF-8 support is what really attracted me. It was easy to configure, integrates smoothly into site layouts, and users report that they really like it. About the only enhancement I can think of is support for non-compliant (Microsoft-based aspx/Word cut and paste) newsfeeds, where special characters mess with encoding.

Nice one by tenaki, March 17, 2007
