Stongly recommended by serge, March 6, 2007
This is a great module and I thank David for writing this.

I solved two small issues:

1. Had to fix some permissions in the cache/ directory, for some reason the cache file was not writeable.

2. (David helped me on this one) I added the following to my template_css.css file so that the font would be bigger:

newsfeed li {
font-size: 120%;
}

.newsfeed ul {
font-size: 120%;
}

With those two adjustements, my website now has a nice "Latest News" module.

Strongly recommended to anyone wanting to show RSS feeds.

Liven up your site by gordonbell, March 6, 2007
This is easy and well done. These guys did a great job. Many thanks.

Great reader! by jsmilez, March 1, 2007
This reader looks great, with really nice mouse-over windows. It's a must-have.

my 1 minor suggestion: The mouse-over windows should auto-adjust it's positioning to right edge of the screen. As it is now, it goes past the right edge, and creates a scroll bar at the bottom of the page.

thanks for a great extension!

Owner's reply:
try entering HAUTO in the 'advanced tooltip settings' text box for automatic horizontal positioning. VAUTO for automatic vertical or HAUTO, VAUTO for both.

Works like a charm! by buddyq, February 24, 2007
I really like this component. It installed just fine. I used to have my Joomla Install in another folder and when changing to root directory forgot to change my cache configuration in the configuration.php. David gave excellent and quick support to catch this error that was my fault. After that was resolved everything worked as promised! Great module!

Fantastic by nzjacob, February 21, 2007

Great! by mikevid, February 14, 2007
Slick is the word...This is the best RSS tool.

Some Suggestions by Reggie, February 13, 2007
Great extension. Thanks!

Here are some suggestions:

1. Option to show date. Maybe something like:

Title
Description
2/16@10:30am

2. Option for a table-less format. In some cases, I think and tags are enough. No need to wrap them in tables.

3. Option to add html header and footer. Sometimes you want to add a description or instructions at the top and/or credits at the end.

4. Option to change tooltip's width

5. Option to change location of tooltip with regards to where the pointer is

Aain, thanks!

Owner's reply:
You can change tooltip width (in pixels) and position (LEFT, RIGHT, CENTER, ABOVE, BELOW, HAUTO, VAUTO) in the 'advanced tooltip settings' textbox. For example enter WIDTH, 300 (300 pixels width) or HAUTO (automatic horizontal positioning)

Pretty good. by davstin2002, February 12, 2007
The only "problem" (which was easily fixable) i had with this was, if you had an empty feed, it would get a "Warning: Invalid argument supplied for foreach() in /modules/mod_slick_rss.php on line 180" error.

It was fixed though by simply storing the results as an array and checking if the array was defined before the loop.

Owner's reply:
Thanks for the feedback. A few people contacted me with this error. It occured when trying to load an empty RSS feed. I've published an update to the current version which includes a check that items exist before the foreach loop.

Incredible Program! by brookside, February 8, 2007
Setup and running without any help files or problems in 2 minutes. Tweaked it in another 2 minutes to integrate even better.

Simple and beautiful! by decioy, February 7, 2007
I've tried a couple of other rss extensions, but they all seem to need some work.

This one I had it working in no time. Really nice interface.

Simply Terrific by shirdi, February 7, 2007
2 of 2 people find this review helpful:
I think I have tried just about every RSS bot and mod out there and this one is just so brilliant because of its simplicity that compliments your site rather than taking away from the core theme.

Having small modules of updated news items that compliment your site, is perfect with this little beauty.

Pros:
Seemless install and uninstall (important!!)
Easy to configure.
Simple add to any number of module positions.
Layout compliant with your default template structure.
Text colour config within the module to suit your sites style, no backend editing required.
Just about every possible combination of feed display built in with a few radio button clicks.

Cons:
None that I have been able to find for its intended use.

All this on the 1.2 release, so it's actually got better.

Major thumbs up, great work.

Loved it! by Phantom162, February 6, 2007
It's great, only one issue is that I couldn't raise the number of Items per feed.

Owner's reply:
This will be because your source RSS feed has a limited number of items. You can't show more items than those contained in your source RSS feed.

Best I have found by Caldwell, February 4, 2007
Smooth as silk! Works perfectly. So easy to use and adjust to anywhere you need it. Just had a little trouble finding the download on their site.

Owner's reply:
I've just made the download link larger and easier to see at the top of the page, thanks.
