simply ...it works by mikyatope, May 20, 2008
Browser compatability is better than any other GPL dropdown menu I have tried.

It works, which is more than you can say about a lot of drop down menu modules."

this was said in a previous comment... and I think it's the greatest thing about this module... it works where ALL the others DON'T ...specially browsers...and specially IE.

I was so depressed with other modules, I was starting to code it myself ...via CSS "Son of suckerfish" and "Extend menu" module ... it worked... but not perfectly in IE.

thanks for saving us headaches and time !!

A PERFECT SOLUTION! by Dallasjmoore, April 10, 2008
After trying many other trans menus that were impossible to get working and positioned correctly that also worked in harmony with my other modules and was crossbrowser compliant, I installed the LxMenu. This component has all the css options including size, font, colors, tansparency, and everything else you could think of built into the component administrator, which provides easy styling on the fly. It works great in all browsers unlike some of the other menus that I've tried. This is a perfect plug and play solution for a rich dynamic menu.

Cheers!

Look no further by beededea, April 3, 2008
If it is a simple to install, simple to configure, simple to use menu tool you are looking for then look no further. This tool works well for simple drop down menus with simple colour matching to allow you to match it to your existing template.

Just Mindblowing Multilevel Menu by nilesh2175, March 14, 2008
Milions thanks for such nice code. I created 3 level drop down menu with this and tested on Opera 9.26 / IE 7.0 / FF 2.0.0.12 on Joomla 1.0.13. One can change color, text, padding all necessary paras one would like to. after using other menus i found this one and downloaded. i just installed module and got error. so i was disappointed. then i came to know that i have to unzip main LX115.zip file which contains LX115 module and LX115 componet. We have to install both. It is just 2 min job. After instaling both i came to know about the power of code. First we should create multilevel structure and then simply select that menu name in LX115 module. While full control is through LX115 component. Offcourse one has to copy paste two line code in template.php file.
Unfortunately i am developing this joomla site on localhost. otherwise i would have provided link to this site.
Only thing i would like to be added is if we can add images at background (at moment color pellete is at ur disposal) then it would have added more advantage. Neverthless i would like to thanks developer team for making such nice multilevel menu without charge.

I just keep coming back by trevor4370, February 18, 2008

I just keep coming back to LxMenu. When developing you need something that 1, works, and 2, is quick to set up. This has both of these. If you want a little more than play around with the CSS yourself. Got my vote

Especially for horitonal menu & many features by rowby, February 1, 2008
Before LxMenu I was having great difficulty setting up a horitonal menu. This component did it for me nicely. I have the pro version and it has many features. I've tried other menu systems but this one is my favorite so far. Many paramaters to customize the menu in the component, such as background, highlight, padding, image background, highlight delay, etc. Well thought through, and the author provided helpful personal support when I had a question.

I highly recommend XLmenu, and in my case the Pro version.

Simple to install and customize by themenace, October 9, 2007

I have looked at several dynamic Menu systems and this is by far the easiest to install and to customize to fit your template.

My search for a good menu stops here.

Yay, it works! by pirateninja, July 24, 2007

This works, and it works better than anything else I've tried. It has an intuitive interface that allows you to change the CSS for your menu without actually writing any CSS. Woot. And the price is right. ;)

Works great for me! by katwomanofsteele, June 28, 2007

Running Joomla 1.0.12, and Community Builder 1.0.2, I tried JSCook, JLo, and several other menu systems before trying this one and this is the best I have found - it works and I was able to modify the placement on the page. It is easily configurable via a component link, and you can also manually modify the css if you need to.

It took me a bit to figure out how to create submenus (I didnt RTFM because I had a hard time finding Joomla 1.0.12 docs), but once I got them in there - it worked flawlessly!

So if you are wondering how to make submenus, make sure you are not trying to create a new menu in the menu manager and/or adding it as a module (yeah yeah yeah). Instead, add your submenu items into the menu you want your dropdown submenu to appear in. So for example, in the Menu Manager, if you are in the MainMenu and want the submenu to appear from a link there, add a new item in there, then when you configure the new link, select the "Parent Item" - this is what creates the submenus then voila they magically appear in your Lxmenu.

Sorry if this is review for some, but I stumbled on other Joomla n00bs like me in the forums trying to figure out how to create submenus :)

Great Product - Great Support by tceko1, May 17, 2007

This component truly is the best option for a pop-out menu. I've tried them all, and this one has met my needs with the least amount of problems and worked as advertised.

Also, I had a couple questions and the developer, Georg, helped me through them. Great Support for this project. I went ahead and purchased the lxmenu pro which had all the features you would need for a pop-out menu!

I've tried em all and this is the best! by AmboyCharlie, March 18, 2007

Lx Menu system finally provided me with the functionality I needed without having to alter the look of my site. The component part, a css editor, permitted me to match my site design in just a few minutes. What's more, it works perfectly.

One caveat, it's a good idea to make placeholders for each parent item in the list and attach the child elements to it. Otherwise the child elements don't work.

Fantastic free menu module! by freakQNC, September 29, 2006

I have tried almost every component/module/mambot related to menu handling and LXMenu is one of the best out there. Cross platform and cros browser compatible. The code is well written and even a non experienced "scripter" like myself can make some sense of a good part of it :).

Provided you are not thinking about using background images for your menu/submenus, LXMenu is a great DHTML system allowing full customization via included component and module. BTW, you need to install them both! It will be necessary to fiddle around with CSS if the available customization options fall short for your design taste.
Remember that if you do edit the CSS make a backup copy of that since once you will do any further editing via Joomla component all the changes you did will be ovewritten by it!

If you are a whiz of CSS and you are also good with Javascript, then you can use this Component/Module as a starting point and bring it way further! (for all of us *hint ;D*)

Good browser compatibility. by micheas, May 2, 2006

LxMenu is not as nice as some of the propietary offerings.

Placement on the page is a little quirky. and every thing is pixil based so it can be hard to get the menu to match your template.

Browser compatability is better than any other GPL dropdown menu I have tried.

It works, which is more than you can say about a lot of drop down menu modules.
