Stay away - dead by vidapura, July 26, 2008

I'm really sorry to say that this extension appears to be no more.
I went to the oscandy site and its "experiencing technical difficulties"... there's still info there telling you how to download and use UGM and smoothgallery.

It looked great so I decided to try it anyway.

After 4 hours of messing around with it I just can't make it work.. tried everything I could think of. But to no avail.

Its a real shame because using Picasa to organise and caption your images and them uploading them with UGM is a work of genius.. its just that smoothgallery doesn't work then... very frustrating/disappointing..

So, I'm just putting this review in here in the hope it will save other people from wasting 4 hours like I did...

If the author can ever get around to fiing this extension it will be brilliant.. but not now.. not in version 1.0.1 its dead...

Was very hopeful, but not working... by rrowe, May 29, 2008

I really wanted this one to work; the demo looks fantastic! After a vanilla install and an hour of playing with it, the module never worked (kept getting an invalid arg in the foreach() function at line 102). The bot worked until I commented out the "hidden" links which I don't ever want in my code! Even after trying their suggestion of caching some of the javascripts in the template's index.php, the thing still threw errors. Suppose I'll have to keep looking...

not working right in IE 7 by cinderelly, April 29, 2008
Nice program, but not working good in IE7.
I have a joomla site with overflow-limitations --- a scrollbar is used for content-items only --- the restheader and footer stay at the same place all the time.
Smoothgallery places the images outside the content-item-scroll-area... below the footer...

In firefox it works fine ..

too bad, this is the second mambot that does not work in IE7 for me... I just want to show a folder with images, along with my contentitems (not in a module area)

My Review by wfwoo, March 24, 2008
The Galley is good enough for me to setup few photo and make it autorun at the content that I want.

Thanks to the author for the effort.

Spanish Letters by consigliere, March 7, 2008
When Importing the ZIP File from PICASSA. The UGM do not import spanish letter right. All the same this is a great plug in, only needs some fixes for spanish letter.

Amazing plugin, stop searching and use this one!!!! by Hammy, March 3, 2008
I spent 3 hours searching for a decent gallery component/plugin and bypassed this at first.....

After downloading it was as easy as install, turn on and add {smoothgallery folder=images/} and I had a working gallery on my page.

They could do with adding the parameter list to the mambot details just for reference but other than that its spot on and you'll be hard pushed to find better looking gallery thats as easy to use!

Too cool to be true... by gadabout, February 18, 2008
This is the coolest component I've found for putting in slide shows into content...you can view an example of it in work here: http://gadabout.biz/paris-nature/parks-n-gardens/parc-floral/

It's flexible, and works well, and I'm using the UGM where you export with Picasa and then upload, and voila...very nice slide show.

My only suggestion: It would be VERY cool if this could be bridged to Community Builder somehow? Maybe there is a way and I've just not found it...will keep searching...but would love to let users create their own slide-shows...or have photo galleries...and give them a tab to show them...maybe a module that showed the most recent photo additions..etc..

A great product, easy to install and get up and running.

Once I solved the issue of error notices appearing (by editing php.ini, then copying php.ini to the folder containing me websit) everything worked great.

some problem by Rwk, January 1, 2008

excellent work, but:

with seo/sef activated, and without moShowHead , it can't find images (works only on frontpage)

with moshowhead, found images but smooth doesn't work.

i can only use it on frontpage :(

Owner's reply:
This review is really not helpful, considering you're suppose to have mosShowHead in your head, otherwise alot of components and mambots don't work. It works fine with SEF.

Does what it's supposed to do, and does it well. Has enough options to make even the most picky amateur Joomla designer (like myself) continue to implement it in some way in almost all the sites I use. Best feature - "out of the box ease of use coupled with exceedingly nice-looking standard output."

Doesn't always play nice with other Javascript calls in certain templates, especially similar "lightbox implementations", but there are workarounds for those that search online documentation.

Feature Request: Change the back-end code to allow searching and randomization from subfolders, not just "directly pointed" folders. (Not a complaint, just a feature request consideration!)

Outstanding plugin!

Looks like a great bot (and component), but... by kerrysnow, December 4, 2007

the mambot, module and component (UGM) code appears to conflict with template code (I use RocketTheme Versatility III) and other installed mambots. The UGM component won't display the functionalality (search for galleries), and the smoothgallery mambot just throws errors. No help, so far (3 days), from the OSCandy forums.

The smoothgallery mambot (and the module and component) looks great, by the way, on a fresh Joomla installation. I just wish I could figure out how to use them on my "real" site.

Number One Option by navegador, December 1, 2007
What amazing job you guys have done.
As simple to install and in about 5 minutes you are reday to
go. Yes you need to read a bit to get it going.

Using Joomla 1.013with SmoothGallery will let your site look
alot better with no pain.

Great product!!! Highly recommend! by fantabk, October 28, 2007
Hello,

I installed SmoothGallery and found that it's very easy to install and ran perfectly.

However, I still have a question: is there an easy way to modify the color of the box of the album? I don't want the 2 black strips on the left and right sides of the pictures. Any help would be appreciated.

Thank you,
Fanta
