Article Thumbnails
This module displays a thumbnailed table of articles in sections or categories you have chosen. A lot of features:

- Display thumbnailed images or not
- Latest module (latest article)
- Most popular module (all time or in a period of time)
- Editor choice moudule (you can choose articles to display)
- Randomly chosen module (display article randomly)
- Choose Items, Categories or Sections to display
- Find images (remote, MOSImage or Editor images) in article, Resize them or Make Thumb from them and then display (randomly or the first found)
- CSS customizing - you can customize your own tables to display anything as you wish

The module originates from mod_section_thumbnails (http://www.mambopower.net/content/view/26/27/) created by Martin Walker mainly for Mambo. A big thank to Martin Walker for his cool module.

Where are the FrontPage Items? by TechPrince, June 8, 2008
Needs to have "FrontPage Published Items Only" and some "More Articles" link just like MiniFrontPage, so this module can replace the frontpage component !!!

Almost Excellent... by sergiux, April 18, 2008
I think the Article Thumbnails Module is ALMOST excellent, for this reason:

I modified css of the module (at.css) with 5 styles for the titles and introduction text, I instaled the module in my site and I copied it ten times, for different topics on the front page of my site. I was happy for the results... in my local server (on my pc), it is functioning excellent.

But when I uploaded my site to the web (on a commercial hosting), everything is ok but there is a problem with the Article Thumbnails Module:

When I create a new article, I write the ID of the new article (in the "Item ID" option in the module form, in the administration panel of my site), and then the article doesn't appears, I can't see it in the front page, but it appears later, after some hours!

Curiously, if I write an "item id" of an old article, the article appears inmediatly in the front page. But my new articles doesn't appears in the front page, after six or more hours!

My site is a news site and I need to change several times every day the ID items of the Article Thumbnails Module.

The module I'm using is 2.07 version and I am using Joomla 1.0.13 spanish premium.

That is the reason I think this module is ALMOST excellent.

Things To Do! by corfulander, April 3, 2008
Awesome module!!
easy to install,many parametres!

There could be one more thing to make it perfect
-->An option to select automatically only frontpage published items of a category or section.

Woot! by Aragorn, March 9, 2008
Man 5/5...
Easy to install and to redesign into own design... Nothing needs to do and my webs are looking now much better...

Thanks a lot!

A good work by hannesh, March 3, 2008
Simple and effective!
But with "create thumbnails", does not preserve the aspect ratio for me. With just rezise there are no problems.

Another thing that would be nice to have for me would be the options to have this module show intro text to articles, that are not yet published. Just as preview then.

Support seems to good also.
Keep up the good work!

excellent module!! by saturos, January 19, 2008
But here is my problem..

i have a big site with 70+ categories so i have to copy 70 time this module...

thats quite a lot..

so can you create a second version of this module , or create a specific variable that automatically loads the articles from every category?

you visit a certain "category" menu -> all new articles from this category will be loaded..

Excellent in Customization but Very Poor in Code and Optimization by savatage, October 3, 2007
0 of 1 people find this review helpful:
Firstly this module is the best one in customization, it includes tens of parameters to control itself. It's cool and great.

On the other side, when I look the code with programmer eye, it has the worst coding structure I have ever seen, code is very complicated, and very poor for reading it.It can seem many of your meaningless but, code needs to be optimized.

When I installed this module to home page of one of sites, it increased the total MySQL quest about plus 130 query.

Without this module : 105 Query
With This module : 232 Query

It's a very big difference, and I noticed that there are too many meaningless queries in module.

Another problem is using the tables instead of layers, it makes sick the code...

As a result, if this module is cleaned up and optimized, it must be the best in its category, but now I donot suggest this module for the sites with high traffic...

Interesting idea ... too many popup ads by greenraingraphics, August 20, 2007

I was going to download the module, but the fact that the website popped up ten different popup ads was disappointing and thus makes me not trust the site enough for downloading zip files.

Great Module by neolier, July 15, 2007

I had been looking for a module like this for so long!! It just works!!! It's by far one of the best modules for joomla!!! Great for News Websites!! It actually creates a new thumb!!!

Great module ! by notexa, June 27, 2007

Works great, and actually does what it promises.
The only thing that would make this even better is if it was a component instead of a module. Then I could use this to replace the standard listview of joomla.

The best module for my front page by gsaitas, June 13, 2007
1 of 2 people find this review helpful:
I use four tabbed instances of this module, one for each category of a section.
A very usefull option, to show the author, is still missing. I believe that will be added soon.

Owner's reply:
Thanks gsaitas for your suggestion. I will add this feature in the next releases.

Very Nice! by cnadm, June 6, 2007

I really like this module very much, but when using images I wish there was a way of telling it to use only the first image in my article, and not the last or random.

Other but that - great work!

/Christian Nielsen

Owner's reply:
You do not have to wish, Christian, because there is already an option to control that. Set Randomly Display Image to NO (default value is YES), and your module will display the very first image it found in your article.
