For those who use the famous CMS Joomla, and want to have a news portal site… let’s say, like CNN.com or Washingtonpost.com then you can use this module. In fact, I bought ijoomla news portal from ijoomla.com but I was not satisfied because of the missing JoomFish Support with their component. Joomfish is the multilingual support for Joomla. So if you have a multilingual site then you cannot use ijoomla news portal. Go to the Project Homepage to have more info.

Awesome by Nikijacob, April 10, 2008
Works right out of the box! No problems.. I kept using DGM lite because it looked great, but I needed something that would let me show a image if there was one. Not all the time and not a default image either. Just great!

Very good by mreiter, October 16, 2007
Very good because it does what one wants and because of it's ability to show the HTML content (images, links, ...).
Some details could be bettered:
1) uninitialized variable brings out warning on the site -- to avoid the message add following statement at the beginning of the module com_newsboxes.php
"$page = '';"
2) explanation is too concise in my opinion --
The meaning of the parameters is not always clear.
For this aspect have a look at the Minifrontpage module.
3) you can't limitate the amount of lines to be shown for an item if it's HTML format

Very good, but could use some updates... by timster, June 26, 2007

Excellent for its ability to do what it says and easy install, and configuration options...

To bring it up to date, it would be good if it could display the first mambot (whether its an image, podcast, or video etc). As many sites are now moving to other media beyond images.

Great module..

Very good... it if could hide contents scheduled for future. by bronston, May 27, 2007

It's really a very useful module, pretty done. Wonderful. I like, if you compare with other similar modules, the ability to show html contents.
Only thing is it doesn't know how to select news which are suppose to be published right now and those which can be already in the system but meant to be issued in a future date. If you prepare a set of contents to be issued in an ordered schedule, you can do it normally in the normal contents area specifying date to be published (and also date to finish publishing), but it doesn't work in this module. It just shows the last contents you add, even if it's meant not to be shown before, let's says, next day or next week. It'a s pity.

Good work! ;) by ffff0000, March 24, 2007

I only miss an option to show the mosimage thumbnails...
...and it would be perfect.
