Joomap is a sitemap component for Joomla that shows the normal Menu Structure, Content Categories, Sections and Virtuemart Categories in a hierarchical list. A plugin system and translation support make it easy to expand the range of supported content and localization! The new version also supports the generation of a Google Sitemaps conformant XML list.
Editor's Note: - This extension by default includes hidden links/advertising. Hidden links/advertising can affect the Search Engine ranking.

Some comments:
This extension is really good for a simple site, it supports extensions to extend its functionality to others components (like others sitemap components) .
It isn't compatible with Joomla 1.5 as it says!
It has hidden advertising, you can disable it but it comes enabled by default.
It hasn't been upgraded long time ago and doesn't have support any more.
Still has a lot of users reported bugs.
So, I don't understand why it's a "Editors Pick" and a "Featured extension".
Maybe its time to make a reevaluation of this extension to help the people to choose the best election.

Great stuff, but "This extension by default includes hidden links/advertising." - No, thanks. This is not really community spirit.

Joomap is a great addition to Joomla it creates a multi lined list of almost every link in your website and it was very easy to install!
future additions i would like to see:
i would like to see the integration of DOCMAN and Joomap as joomap cannot access DOCMAN at the moment!
other than that i think joomap is a great addition thank you for doing a great job

Having hidden links inside a Joomla Component is not the best way to promote yourself. I used to use this great compo but now i wont since i dont like having such links inside my website.

You can see the working version here
that even works fine with artio SEF component. The only thing i would love to see is virtuemart products to be listed in the categories. It installed perfect first time, no messing with code. I'm using J1.0.12 and VM1.0.12 on a linux server.

If you have a multilingual site:
try to do this
index.php?option=com_joomap&view=google&lang=lang1
index.php?option=com_joomap&view=google&lang=lang2
index.php?option=com_joomap&view=google&lang=lang3
I don't know why, but it works!
You can submit one sitemap for languaje in google.
I'm happy with this component. Thank You

Instant Sitemaps + Google by tekyn, September 12, 2007

This is a slick little sitemap tool. Just install and go. The generated sitemap can be customized to meet the need of your site and it works well with other extensions.
Note that for publishing the Google Sitemap produced by Joomap I utilized two other add-ons:
1) Google SiteMaps Plugin from JoomX - a 'bot which publishes the Google Sitemaps confirmation code
2) ARTIO JoomSEF - an SEF component which I used to create a shortcut to the sitemap (/sitemap instead of /index.php?blahblah)

Great component! by klados, September 4, 2007

Creates working sitemap for Google. Works very fine with SEF components (at least with sh404sef, openSEF).
Doesn't do multilingual sitemaps straight but if you just add &lang=en (or any installed language code) in the end of Joomap url and it will create sitemap using chosen language. This means one sitemap for every language but Google accepts multiple sitemaps.

Good for generating Google Sitemap by thepisu, August 23, 2007

I use it only for generating the Google Sitemap, and the result is very good. Great the compatibility with VirtueMart, it doesn't index the products, but this is not a problem, just submitting to Google all the categories allow the engine to scan the correct pages: great results in search rank!

the component looks fairly simple to install and use ... HOWEVER, when i submit the link (cut and paste), i end up getting an error ...
i'm adding 'general sitemap' ... the link to copy is
'index.php?option=com_joomap&view=google' .. but when google checks, it comes back as 'error' unsupported format or something like that ...
PLEASE HELP ...
