Joomap is a sitemap component for Joomla that shows the normal Menu Structure, Content Categories, Sections and Virtuemart Categories in a hierarchical list. A plugin system and translation support make it easy to expand the range of supported content and localization! The new version also supports the generation of a Google Sitemaps conformant XML list.
Editor's Note: - This extension by default includes hidden links/advertising. Hidden links/advertising can affect the Search Engine ranking.

Multi lingual? by aka004db, March 18, 2007

Joomap is propably the most efficient sitemap generator there is at this moment. I could not get the "Google Sitemap Generator" working which could be an alternative, BUT... (and there is a major but) my site is made multi-lingual through Joomfish. Any sitemap generated from within the database-items do not include any language-settings with the result google does not index the "other tan English" language.
What i'm looking for is a sitempa generated like here: http://www.xml-sitemaps.com which does include language-settings.....
For me, Joomap is not suited!

One small issue by catalinp_ioan, March 9, 2007

This is a good tool. Easy to install, generates good sitemaps for Google as long as the SEF is turned off in Joomla.
The big problem is that when turning on the SEF so that links get user and search engine friendly, I get error after error from Google sitemaps.
Still need work in this area, and would be great to sovled this issue.
Overall is a good component, and a must for Joomla websites.

I get this error from this product after submitting sitemap to google
Google Error - Leading whitespace
We've detected that your Sitemap file begins with whitespace. We've accepted the file, but you may want to remove the whitespace so that the file adheres to the XML standard. [?]

I am disappointed, because it is not possible to show the archives of the site in the sitemap joomap. RD sitemap proposes it...

Could do with better configuration options, so that it doesn't just follow menu items, have to be careful with what you are doing if you want google or yahoo to deep crawl your site with this map.

Perfect and simple to use by rjhoogendam, January 9, 2007

I have installed it and it works great.
only problem i had was the www in front of the google link but if you chance the Live variable in the configuration.php to include the www:
$mosConfig_live_site = 'http://www.renovation-auvergne.com';
It will work fine.
Thanks

Generates Erroneous Google Maps by jmccann, December 13, 2006

Component is easy enough to install and generates an acceptable site map but falls down badly on Google Site maps.
I have installed this on a number of sites and each one generates errors when submitted to Google.
Google responds that invalid dates are found and that links generated show "URL not allowed".

There are two problems with this plugin: the lack of integration with the shop and with the artio sef . It would be far better to map /sitemap.xml to /index.php?option=com_joomap&view=google

Great extension - maybe on the next release it can automatically send an update to Google whenever the site is updated, like the similar WordPress plugin.

didn't quite work properly by asgard, November 18, 2006

I found the sitemap didn't list blog-category properly, I had to change to blog-section, and google is reporting the google sitemap is "Unsupported file format". :-( Other than that looks nice :-/

This is excellent component with Joomla.
But with virtuemart, it only display categories, not products yet.
If you can do more with virtuemart, so your component will be a perfect sitemap component.

Was just looking for a sitemap generator for google sitemaps and it worked perfectly and the site map for the visitors is clear and easy to navigate. Plus it also has a exclusion feature where you stop areas of your site from being included.
