Joomap
Joomap is a sitemap component for Joomla that shows the normal Menu Structure, Content Categories, Sections and Virtuemart Categories in a hierarchical tree or a Google Sitemaps list. A plugin system and translation support make it easy to expand the range of supported content and localization!

There is a new Joomla 1.5 compatible version at the project's website.
The advertising is now turned off by default and will be removed in future versions.

Editor's Note:
  • This extension by default includes hidden links/advertising. Hidden links/advertising can affect the Search Engine ranking.

This is best sitemap for Joomla! by plwalker, July 25, 2006
This is best sitemap for Joomla! I use this in my site with some layout mofications. Default did not look good on my site and I did some chages to its XHTML layout. This great component and sitemap looks great with my onw modifications.

Sooo Great by Ricksvil, June 28, 2006
I use this extension all of the time to edit pages and make changes on my site. It is one of the very best extesions available. If you don't use it yet, so what you are doing, download and install this extension before you do anything else. Life will be much easier.

Good Product addendum by popo, June 2, 2006
Hello,
Just a little addition to my last post.
Google doesn't like malformed dates in the section, so I altered the file "components/com_joomap/joomap.google.php" in the following way:
--original--
$modified = date('Y-m-d\TH:i:s', $node->modified); // ISO 8601 yyyy-mm-ddThh:mm:ss.sTZD
$modified .= sprintf("%+03d:00", $GLOBALS['mosConfig_offset']); //TimeZoneDesignator
--/original--

--modified--
//$modified = date('Y-m-d\TH:i:s', $node->modified); // ISO 8601 yyyy-mm-ddThh:mm:ss.sTZD
$modified = date('Y-m-d', $node->modified); // ISO 8601 yyyy-mm-dd
//$modified .= sprintf("%+03d:00", $GLOBALS['mosConfig_offset']); //TimeZoneDesignator
--/modified--

Hope this helps others having the same problem.

Regards,
PoPo

Good product by popo, June 1, 2006
Joomap is a great product, one minor flaw has to do with the generation of the sitemap, more specifically the generation of the tag. I commented out linenumber 67 ($modified .= sprintf("%+03d:00", $GLOBALS['mosConfig_offset']); //TimeZoneDesignator) and all is ok.

Amazing by labber, May 16, 2006
This is an amazing component, great job. I was wondering if there was any future plans on supporting VirtueMart at a product level.

Works great by marlincreek, May 10, 2006
installed easily and was easy to figure out.

One issue I had was that I use the Sections Module.. and Joomap doesn't pick up the module...

But was solved easily enough by creating a new menu with links-table sections... and then leaving it unpublished. Joomap still picked it up.

Does what it says on the box! by giles, May 8, 2006
downloaded and installed, no problems, easy to configure Produces a sitemap. QED.

While there is an invisible ad in the code the author does give you the option to turn it off in the configuration back end.

Excellent software and support by rjcarr, May 5, 2006
I installed Joomap and think it is excellent. Easy to use and it does was it should. Even more important, Daniel (developer) was very helpful and responsive. Many times this makes or breaks the extension.

Get Joomap!

Very cool by consigliere, May 3, 2006
I like it a lot, very necessary for rankings, but I do not see the Site Map changes dynamically while adding new content to the site.

Works great, but please no ads by azuriel, April 28, 2006
Installed and worked instantly with no muss or fuss. I found the advertisement in the file joomap.html.php on line 137-142. From what it says in the comments, "BEGIN: Advertisement (improve my google ranking)". I don't like becoming a link farm, and this also invalidates your site in terms of the Google webpage guidelines (which you need to follow for AdSense). I advise removing these lines, the component works fine without them.

works fine by tkvent, April 21, 2006
everything works great for me. using v 1.0.7
simple install and simple creation. also looking forward to auto changes/ scheduled updates for google submissions

2.03 by icwebmaster, April 18, 2006
Well, seems quite buggy...

When clicking the google site map to vie, IE totally locks up. Using 1.08 along with Joomfish and virtuemart.

Also, no generation on sitemap of anything from virtuemart. This install is on a clean base setup so not sure why the lockup...but wondering if anyone else is having the same issues.

format for XML by frankcow, April 12, 2006
from DP forums:
I've made a small addition to the file joomap.google.php

I've added
header('Content-type: text/xml;');

at line 86 (ie first line in the function JoomapGoogle:rintTree. This means that when I view the output I get formatted xml not raw text.

Excellent Component, Excellent Support!! by :MrClean:, April 1, 2006
When I first installed Joomap, I had the "blank page" issue that others have referred to. I told Daniel Grothe (the creator) of the issue and he worked with me step-by-step until the bug was worked out. Now, Joomap works perfectly, and it's completely compatible with Google Sitemaps. Download this now if you haven't already!!!
