Niftybox and Niftycolumn
This plugin gives you the ability to easily add beautiful rounded corner box (niftybox) and multiple columns (niftycolumn) for a block of text with only CSS - no extra images at all! The box is useful for displaying quotes, stylish rounded box and creating multiple columns in your content. e.g: {niftybox background=ivory,textcolor=maroon,float=right} This is a sample of nifty box {/niftybox}

* Note: We've tested this with several layout templates and the NiftyColumn is known not to work with the default rhuk_solarflare_ii template that is shipped by default in Joomla. However, NiftyBox works fine in all cases.

* Please use our forum to report bug instead of e-mail to prevent duplicate efforts. Forum: http://www.babygekko.com/forum

* VERSION History:
v1.03 maintenance (Oct 4, 2007): minor fix release for displaying multiple CSS link in HEAD tag. Fixed CSS clear:left/right/both for individual niftybox when you specify float position
v1.02: fixed the linebreak inside {niftybox} and {niftycolumn} bug. Fixed all issues specified in the comments below. Please see the demo URL.
v1.01BETA: removed Javascript completely, added border options, fixed MSIE, new visual color guide (compatible with most major browsers). Tested with Opera, Firefox, Seamonkey, MSIE 6.
v1.0BETA: fix MSIE 6 and 7 rendering

Make it work into modules ! by antoinicolas, August 18, 2007
It works fine for me with content items and is very useful.
However, I was just wondering it could also work standalone into modules. Apparently, a small tweak has to be coded ! It would be wonderful ;)

Really Neat by dwsmart, August 9, 2007
I'm very impressed, the only thing I had to change was a bit of the code from valign=top to valign=\"top\" on line 276 of mambot/content/niftybox.php to prevent it breaking W3C validation.

Otherwise it looks great, and I can see myself using it loads.

Excellent support by cpbartlett, June 6, 2007
A great way to get rounded corners with "NO" images. I had an issue with a specific browser version and after e-mailing support, received an answer back almost immediately with the fix.

problem with option box "float" by bugalanoz, April 24, 2007
hello,

the option box "float=center" doesn't work even if is selected in the nifty global option. So I result my problem by creating table which i centered. It is more complicated and a lot of time...
Otherwise, the last version is very well and work very fine. Bugs are fixed in MSIE 6 for me.

Works well... if you test your colouring. by partic, April 15, 2007
Works nicely, but beta needs some tweaking. From other reviews, people are having similar problems, but here are some tips on getting it to work reasonably across the browser spectrum, or at least Niftybox (haven't used niftycolumns yet)
- Using color numbering (eg #000000 for black) works in Firefox, but not in Internet Explorer.
- Colour names work in Internet Explorer, but only basic colour names (blue, green, red etc) work in Firefox, and not sub colours (blue1, blue2, blue3).
- So, using basic color names works in FF and IE, otherwise, some colours won't show up.

There was also an intermittent issue I had with the niftybox mambot working in some articles. Eventually by cutting and pasting the code several times, it work on all the articles I applied it to.

where is the v2 mentioned above? by QuinnTheAdmin, April 14, 2007
I too am having issues with this bot working as described and would like to use it if only the publisher would post the latest version mentioned above in another post. I could use this if it only worked...

Worked well for me by tenaki, April 13, 2007
It worked well for me so I am pleased with it. It's simple to install and use.

The only improvement I can see is that it doesn't work easily with all the color choices. If you want blue, red, green etc then you are fine but I had problems using any other non basic colors

Good job though

Would be great...if it worked by kaizen, April 11, 2007
Add me to the list here that can't seem to get this to work in either IE *OR* FF. At least with the older version I got a series of differnt colored square boxes...with the latest update I get ONE square box and a bunch of text. Even after putting it lower on the mambot list (and below tabs and slides as recommended....)

But I'll keep trying it becuase once it works, it's going to be a nice addition to the toolbox!

Simple to install, easy to use, looks pretty and the current version works reasonably well. There were some minor issues such as the problems that many developers have when trying to develop new integrating software for ie6/ie7 and firefox etc.
The mambot allows different background colours and rounded corners and separate columns within the same content. I contacted the author (there were no reviews at that time) after using version 1 and the author rapidly fixed a minor bug and released version 2 showing an instant rapid improvement.
The mambot gives a far prettier and more professional look and allows the artists among us a free reign in colour and content design.
There still remains some minor issues (in ie6 and 7) but the author is working on this and I'm sure later editions will fix these also. The box is set on with a normal mambot style call {niftybox colour=red} Text {/niftybox} but unfortunately it is also switched off with a standard html brk which is a little restrictive on paragraphing content
Personally I like it and some of the negative comments listed may relate to the earlier version.

Doesn't work by sly, April 10, 2007

i have only squared boxes

Does not work by Pachat, April 10, 2007

Good idea, but you posted it to early.

The provided example does not work at all, either under IE6 nor under Firefox 2 : only one box appears instead of the many and it has straight corners. (Joomla 1.0.12)

Please test before publishing!

Hmm.. by badboybill, April 9, 2007
This is a great idea, out of the box, didnt work for me, all the nifty boxes were square shaped and some boxes were weird. But none the less a nice component if I can just get it to work.
