Alot of time has been spent trying to make this work for J1.5 to no luck! Thinking it was everything but the CB componenet with all the visible bugs fresh from the install! I was sure It was my setup templates something! To find out this fantastic ext was not working properly. It should be made alot more clear this is not 100% compatable or finished for J1.5. Cant wait for more updates! And please let others know this is a beta and its not complete astheticly!
Lookin fwd to new releases!
Thank you Joomla and all developers!

I have found this component VERY useful, it changes the login form to a much better & bug-free form, enables more fields to be created for registration, and allows special pages for individual users, plus, community builder has extension-specific plugins.
I rate this component #1.

Great Application but no User Manual or Version 1.5 support by jensenium, April 11, 2008

This is a great application because it really expands your ability as a webmaster to control how users login, logout, and edit their profiles.
Although there is no version 1.5 support yet, I'm using it in legacy 1.0.x mode, and everything seems to be working OK.
The developer's financial model is to create free software, but charge for the user's manual. I still haven't figured out how to do the more detailed functions, so I wouldn't recommend this software if you get frustrated easily.
All-in-all, this is a good application that can take your website to new heights, but you have to be willing to shell out some cash, or wait days for answers on their forum.

Excellent for Clans/Guilds by =TRB=Hardcore, March 18, 2008

Switching to Joomla 1.0 with CB as the CMS for my Clans website was an excellent move. The site should be going live very soon, and I have had nothing but positive feedback from the clan members regarding all the cool features CB brings.
Thanks to the dev team!

A great add-on...for J1.0.x! by powderburned, March 13, 2008

This is a wonderful add-on for versions of Joomla prior to 1.5 but it is not truly compatible with J1.5.x legacy mode or not. I have spent considerable time pouring through the forums at Joomlapolis and tinkering with the component and modules as best I can and have not been able to get it to work reliably with j1.5. At best, it crashed my site only about 60% of the time.
The bottom line is that version 1.1 of CB is NOT as compatible with J1.5 as it's description would have you believe.
I will wait for both the native version of CB AND a migrator tool before I consider migrating my site.

An essential for any community based site. by imtravie, March 4, 2008

Community builder in my opinion is an essential addon component to Joomla for any community based site, giving users the ability to create their own 'personal profiles' based on fields administrators can set up. The forums are very active and the component itself is simple to use and set up. Whilst like in any component there are flaws, this one really extends the community nature of your site, by giving users their own personal space. And another testimonial to the component or package is the number of plug-ins available to community builder made my third party developers.... if it wasn't that good, you would not see this many plugins

Hi Folks,
Not just a simple component, it is the corner stone of my site. I have looked around and I found many components working together with CB which allowed me to develop a great community site. www.blogynet.com - Take a look - If you want to see the features of Community Builder - you have to register. Worth doing it...
good work

Not ready for 1.5 primetime by sbrawner, February 14, 2008

It appears from the CB support forums and the lack of any bugfixes recently that this project is not being fixed up for J!1.5 release at all. I did install this component and the modules onto a plain vanilla 1.5.0 Joomla install but found them VERY buggy, lots of problems. After reading their rather poorly laid out forums for an hour or so and applying lots of little hacks, it would still not not work properly. I gave up. This project shows lots of promise that, frankly, really belongs in the core Joomla system.
Sorry, but this module needs more dev and lots more support.

I can tell you, that going through hundreds of other "so called" ways to give you the designer control of creating your own Social Networking community. When you want something that is fairly easy to piece together while allowing you to customize what you want in as many ways as you want, then Community Builder is DEFINITELY for you!!!
I am the Creator and Founder of www.NetworkingLive.com in which I have created entirely with Community Builder, and I have to say TWO THUMBS UP to the entire Community Builder Team!

Not "true" 1.5 support and limited compatiblity by NightAvatar, January 25, 2008

I must admit, this extension looks AMAZING!
I would love to try it out more than I have, but the fact that you have to enable Legacy is very disturbing.
Another issue I have with it is the lack of compatibility with other 3rd party apps, such as Gallery 2 and SMF or other forums.
Would love to have it if these issues could be fixed, hell, I'd even spring for the subscription (paid fee) as long as it was a one-time payment.
As is, I need to look elsewhere.
Nice job though! Wish I could use it. :)

Will not notify of new user registration by pbmax, January 15, 2008

The features I explored looked nice enough, but I was getting no notification of user registration. Not in the "Memeber management" module, or via email.
Searching the forums identified other people with the same problem and no answers posted by community or developers.
So the option is to allow open registration or check the back-end manually for new registrations.

I noticed some winers making comments. They're expecting too much. For a completely free community building software/portal this stuff rocks. I'm not an expert with JOOMLA in the least and I had no trouble with getting it installed, and all the plugins I'm using so far have installed without a single hitch to speak of. I really recommend this for anyone wanting to have a basic community website.

This extension offers a brilliant platform to build community driven websites. It is very well supported by other extensions and I love it. I found it very intuitive to set-up and it does exactly what it claims to. If you are struggling to get it working I would highly recommend you keep at it - you won't regret it!
