When i first looked at the features i felt like it was exactly the component i was looking for. But being on 1.5.2, I discovered that the admin pannel is very slow, some pannels are reacting very poorly (brings you back to the main tab when you select something). And it seems that there is a main issue with the polls tab. You can't indeed check the polls out so that it displays ok in the front end. All I managed to display is the template of a poll with wrong stuff in it: understand nothing displayed (no question no answer etc) and even buttons are displaying code stuff instead of their label :s
Hope it can be fixed as it sounds as a great tool ;) Owner's reply: Hi,
please post detailed error descriptions in the forum on joomlaxt.com and I'm sure you'll get help.

The back end and functionality of this component is fabulous. There are many great features and it truly is as it's the standard joomla poll component on steroids.
HOWEVER. Sadly, due to poor html formatting of the modules for the front end, it is an absolute nightmare trying to customize the look of the polls through css. I was really disappointed to see numbers of non-semantic table techniques being used in the html.php file. I've been pulling my hair out and modding this extension, but it's quite an annoyance to have to do when it could have been done right in the first place. Due to this utter draw back I have to vote a fair, otherwise would be excellent.

I'm new to joomla and I found your poll very easy to install and customize. Let's see how it goes in the future. Great job!

They do not have the most important thing! by nazional, November 15, 2007

The POLL component that comes already install with the JOOMLA package works absolutely fine, the only thing is that you only have 12 files to add question. But at least it works everywhere you put it on.
With the pollxt you have to publish it everywhere, which I think is just nonsensical, I mean, sometimes I just want to have the poll publish it in a very specific place.
That is one thing, the other thing, something I think is basic. You do not have an option to let the user vote once per day. It is impossible to have that option with POLLXT.
And you have failed in two very simple steps, which I think is just incredible.
Nice application but two inexplicable mistakes that you cannot forget.

The best voting system out there by Tom Hammond, October 26, 2007

This is the best "free" voting system for Joomla. Very flexible and easy to understand and lots of ways to show the poll results. The interface for entering survey question information is easy to follow, although a bit buggy. For instance, I can't create new survey question from scratch; I have to copy & edit existing ones. Other than that, pollXT works very well! Highly recommended.

First off: This Poll package removes the functionality of "Lag (elapsed time between votes)" from a poll. This means that although you may have a poll where multiple voting is allowed, a restriction or "lag" can't be configured into the poll. What this does is to allow multiple votes to happen one time after another without having to wait.
Having said that: Hold on to your keyboards. This is one package that does everything else with polls. Is it ultra refined and flawless? I am sure not. Being that it is the only alternative out there, and that it kicks some serious Joomla! butt, while running very nicely on a Unix machine, it is awsome, however.
Very little support. Crude in most cases, VERY EFFECTIVE. Allows for some serious creativity and data mining possibilities.
Thank you, Thank you. Thank you.

PollXT is a great extension. Major feature for me is the multiple response via check boxes or multiple select. Result display is adequate and clean. ***Important*** any problems not addressed in the community resources are handled by the developer, Oli, very quickly.
When the next version allows a max number of selections on multiple response questions, this will be an EXCELLENT extension.

Why aren't you using this com/mod/bot yet?
It's great and the install went quick and smooth and it does nearly everything we wanted. The things it doesn't do in 1.22 that we need it will do in 1.30 so we are very much looking forward to the update.
Get rid of the plain old stock polls and get this magnificently simple-to-use and easy-to-install pack.
Though installing 5 pieces separately could be combined one day I hope.

admin side of script is so slow that it takes almost 40/60 seconds to just download the main config page. same thing after every new question added.
you cannot delete a question after you've added it, just unpublish it.
some code errors and the hanging of the browser at every click in the admin side.
the support forum is completely unuseful.
20 threads, some of them 15 days old and only 3 threads answered.
you don't want to download this!

I thought this was going to be a minor extension of the standard polls component (which quite frankly is useless) but it's not! It's a features-rich component allowing to you run and manage a complete voting system. Many options available, I really like the fact that you can set the start and end time of the polls. You can check for uniqueness by user name, IP address and/or cookies too.
There literally isn't (to the best of my knowledge) a component out there that even attempts to do the same thing.
It's a shame the email authentication is only for registered users who are logged in as an email verification system would be perfect for me, then you could run a "one vote per email address per poll" system.

PollXT outperforms the default Joomla polls toy by far and seems to have no serious competitor in this area.
However, it might need some serious recoding, as it keeps on freezing Firefox 2.0.0.3 after a while. I can hardly finish even the simplest task without a hang.
It is in deed feature rich, but at this stage it requires loads of patience to work with.

Best poll utility I've tried by LCM, April 27, 2007

This is a smashing utility. It does exactly what it says –and more- straight out of the box and into a new Joomla 1.0.12 site.
One of the most interesting features is having a number of questions with their respective answers underneath all on the same poll module.
You can see much thought has gone into this to make it something that gives Joomla users all the things they had on their ‘poll’ wish list.
I highly recommend it.
It works well in Firefox and almost as well in IE although if you have the results set to ‘popup’ they have to be prompted by using the results button.
PollXT also seems to be working well with the other components I have installed.
You will need to download all the three files and install each one separately. In my case that was straightforward and error free.
There is also the option of another module to display a list of links to all the polls on your site.
Bottom line – this seems to be a very mature and well thought out set of tools and as such is well worthy of being part of the core installation.
