The "AJAX Vote" Plugin is the "evolution" of the default Joomla! voting/rating system.

Utilizing an eye-candy "star rater", the plugin uses AJAX technology to seemlessly process your visitor votes on your articles (content items) without reloading the page.

It's also the easiest way to add voting/rating functionality to your Joomla! website!

The plugin supports 3 languages for now, but more will be added soon.

We've just updated our "AJAX Vote" plugin, after related user reports concerning a possible serious security issue. We've address this issue successfully and released v1.1. The new version:
- Fixes a major security issue, which could let others execute a remote script, under certain requirements. The plugin is solid rock now.
- Adds the following language files: German, Romanian, Russian and Swedish.
- You may now use AJAX Vote on com_frontpage with Joomla's cache turned on (bypass to a Joomla! com-frontpage/cache bug - not an AJAX Vote issue).
- Fixes star rater CSS styling to display identically on all browsers.

It is great looking and give a good feel to the website... but there is problems.

Version 1.0 did not work at all but after some modifications I got it to function. Downloaded and installed version 1.1. Did not work either at first and did show 7 rating stars. Suddenly the voting started to work but it says you have voted already all the time. And now it show 6.5 stars. Maybe it is down to 5 in a few weeks. :-)

I think it is a great plugin - if it was working. But it seems to me that the developer fixed a few bugs and introduced some new one's in version 1.1. And support, there is a support forum but no one answer or help you.

The plugin is great, but only if it works on your website.

Like the guy below, I am also using one of the RocketTheme's templates, Colormatic to be precise, and I am having problems with this plugin.

The voting stars do not show in blog category list, and when I click on a specific post/content to view it, a vertical number list appears where the stars voting system should be.
I am not using Joomla caching, and it's turned off.

From what I have seen in other people's websites, and the demo link, the plugin is a great eye candy and ajax lightning fast.

This has worked really well for me - much much better than the standard mos rating system. Works on the latest version of IE, Firefox, and Safari.

Very easy to install. Had the voting working in minutes. Since my site does not use a white background, I had to visit the forums for the author in order to download "stars" with transparant backgrounds. Other than that, this appears to be an excellent little rating system!

Great looking tool. Easy to install. Note that it doesn't work with 1.5 yet.

If you turn it on at the global level and turn it off for an article, the top level view of the article still shows the stars for rating, but when you drill down on the article it correctly removes the stars.

Conversely if you turn it off at the global level and turn it on for an article, the top level view of the article does not display the stars for rating, but when you drill down on the article it correctly removes the stars.

So unless you want it fully "on" fully "off", it will be misleading for your users.

A very simple idea that overhauls the Joomla content voting, giving a much smoother and integrated feel to the system. The AJAX technology, meaning no page refreshes and instant message feedback when submitting a vote, gives a site a much cleaner and interactive feel.

The current release does have a few issues. It can conflict on the frontpage of a site with a template's css list properties and this can break the plugin. And there are times when other javascript code on the same page can conflict. But the support forum is quite well supported and most solutions to such problems can be found there.

Works poorly, I've tried it on different computers. Shows numbers in a vertical list instead of stars. I've uninstalled.

This is not an AJAX Vote fault, but a bug in Joomla's cache for com_frontpage, that prevents plugins to parse CSS/JS files inside the template properly. In v1.1 we have worked around this, to bypass this bug of Joomla. ;)

Looks great and it give a refreshing look to the staring system, i would like to stop this review here, but i do have a problem with the stars, don't know where they come from, but i have blue stars messed up in the middle of the real ones..
using versatility-3, joomla 1.12

The problem is ver easy, in IE7, the number of votes is showed at a new line and in firefox is showed at right of the stars.

Please correct this small bug

The plugin works really good. Hopefully something like this will be added for Mos Tree (like here).

I had one problem though. Using it together with RocketTheme's VersatilityIII (and maybe other themes?) gives a error with the images.
