The extension is great. Works out of the box. The way it manages the newsletters is great, really simple. The only problem is that I can't use it. It forces the visitors to register completely to the site. There should be an option of only putting your email and BINGO... you can receive the newsletters. As in all mayor web sites. I hope the developers can see this and make the changes.

Thanks in advance.

Owner's reply:
Putting unsubscribe links in newsletters for guests would require unique mails to be sent to each guest-subscriber, not just bcc-copies of one mail as it is now.

Generating and mailing away thousands of unique mails, perhaps every hour, is hardly a task for a simple joomla component.

Terrific. Just what I wanted by tmarsha4, July 6, 2007
I end up updating my website sometimes multiple times a day, and needed a mailer that could let my registered guests know about it. I had no trouble installing it and setting it up. It looks great and so far has performed great as well.

This is just what I was looking for. I'm looking forward to using this component to it's fullest potential.

I have two recommendations:
1. A way that a user can "Subscribe to All", seeing as I have about 24 categories, it can be a pain to click each one.

2. Make it possible that a user can subscribe to an RSS feed you have on your website. For example, at my website I am streaming news from michaelbuble.com to a single link on the mainmenu. If it would be possible to add these articles being RSSed to be able be sent via mailer, that would rock.

Thanks for a terrific component.

Bug in text/html by evenmore, June 30, 2007
This is a very good plugin, and exactly what I had been looking for. But there seems to be a bug in the HTML/text preferences.

I installed vemod on my site, and several people have registered to receive HTML emails, including myself. But the last person to register preferred to receive text emails, and now I seem to be receiving both text and HTML emails, even though I am set for HTML.

Apart from that, this is an excellent program. Only one suggestion would be, to be able to send many articles under one email, so as not to clog up people's inboxes.

Owner's reply:
That's how it works. Users are getting bcc-copies. The original mail has to go somewhere. If no users has signed up for text format mails, a text mail will not be generated.

You could try typing a bogus address in the "Receiver e-mail address" field at the backend if You don't want these mails.

Great component ! by lolamk, June 30, 2007

Exceptional Work - Great Developer by rleathers, June 11, 2007
First, this developer is fantastic. I made a few recommendations for improvements (to satisfy my own selfish needs) and within just a few days they were implemented. He took the component from a bare-bones emailer to a complete "subscribe to content via email" solution.

Second - the component: Fantastic.
Custom HTML formatting, including module content IN the email is a must for my users. Also, giving them the Plain Text option is a fantastic benefit for my Blackberry subscribers.

Optional verification email is also a huge benefit. My users already subscribed. They do not want to have to do it again.

Third - for those of you who wonder why anyone would pick email over RSS, see Feedblitz or FeedBurner or any other RSS feed via email service. People understand email. People feel safe using email.

This component fills a real need and I can't recommend it enough.

Useful by Ferret, May 24, 2007
Like istrait I've also been looking for something like this. Well done!

I managed to set it up so that not all users could send from the front end but it could have been more intuitive. It took me some time to find the section where you set the parameters which appears at the bottom of the categories list in the back end.

It seems that it does send emails sort of automatically being kicked off by the refresh of a page, if you alter the template's index.php as they suggest (also at the end of the categories section in the back end).

So it does what I want it to do pretty well and is a much needed component.

Errors after install by Chinaman, May 23, 2007
1. Hard coded sql table prefix
2. After re-install with hard coding table prefix problem fixed, backend appears to be OK
3. Front end displays available categories, BUT
4. When trying to subscribe, page not found (using JoomSEF)

I really hope this gets going, as it sounds promising

I have been looking for this by istrait, May 22, 2007
I have been looking for a free extension that does this for a long time.

It works and is fairly easy to setup.

I only have two problems.
1. Anyone apparently can send the newsletter out from the front end.
2. It would be nice if it could automaticly send out the messages once it detects the message is there.

Thanks for a great component.

Owner's reply:
Thanks to you!

1. That happened with JACL plus but is fixed now.

2. Every hour is the smallest scan interval.
