Its a Real Good Component ! Just Read this to understand better how to make it work :-) by kokujin, October 30, 2007
After Downloading this component, I had a pretty hard time understanding how to actually make this work and almost gave up. But I liked the actual setup where you could have Categories and Artists within the Categories. On there Demo site, it looked pretty good.

Anyways heres basically what I had to do to get this to work.

1) Download and extract Package Zip Files
2) Upload the Component via Joomla Installer to your site
3) Upload the 5 Modules that come with it via Joomla Installer
4) Go to Components > JMusic > Configuration and make your settings changes
5) Through FTP client or directly from your Hosting File Manager, access the file ( playlist.xspf ) which will be located in root/components/com_jmusic/playlist.xspf
6) Open up the file and you will find 2 samples Playlists in there.
7) Now upload your music files to your server or from an external server and grab the URL path for the music files
8) Go to your >> playlist.xspf file and enter the details in there > Hit Save
9) Now Go to your Joomla Admin > Components > JMusic > Music Management and enter all the required info. The most important part is last one which asks >> Link playlist xspf:
Now in this field, simply enter the full file path of the playlist.xspf file you just edited and include the http://
Hit Save !
10) Thats it, your music playlists should be active through the Front End of the site.

Notes:
The playlist.xspf can be renamed/copied to several files so you can add separate songs for each artist category.
Just remember to always point to the correct path and if you have any problems, it would help going over all the steps.

I really cracked my head here but it works a treat in the end. I hope this helps those who have any difficulties.

Cheers!

Jmusic is hardly based on ours release Cinema, we cannot reply to issues regarding this component, so for that we suggest to contact the owner of the Jmusic project for issues.

tooo early to ask for payment by baijianpeng, June 1, 2007
I am suprised to see this component is no longer a free one. They began to ask for some fee while it still need more improvement to make me sure it worth that money.

I tested the version 2.7.5 since I can't download 2.7.6 now. This component is only good for a music catalogue, for example, if you want to sell music CD, you can use this to make a Product Book.

But, I was expecting a good component so that I can publish some music file composed and played or sung by members, music fans, and uploaded in multi formats, such as mp3, wav, ogg, etc. Now I know it is far away from this but only a Name List.

Could be good with some work by JKRENT, May 30, 2007

Great concept for a componant and one that is needed in the joomla community but hampered by lack of support and lack of english documentation. If you speak italian this thing is great, if you don't good luck. Audio plays in a playlist by creating an XSPF file tracklist or playlist for each entry and call to it via a link. Being fairly familiar with XSPF I've tried everything to no avail. There is zero support on the support forums which is written all in italian and several posters asking in english for help on the XSPF issue and not one response from the admin or developers yet they ask for donations. Why would I donate to a component to further its development when I can't even get a simple response on how to make it work, let alone read the support forums as they do not use simple joomla components to translate in all languages.

This component is a great idea but unless documentation is provided and support given I don't see it going anywhere. It solves alot of issues for me and is frustrating that I'll have to take it down due to lack of support to answer a simple question..

In other words.. It doesn't work, there is no documentation other than broken English, half the component code is written in Italian, half the component displays in Italian and the developer does not provide any support via their forum to anyone regarding this component and especially the international community.

What a shame.

Nice idea but needs work by bruno05, May 30, 2007
I installed this component a few days back and have been struggling to get it working. This is a nice idea and some of the work is great, but it needs more english labels and also a english site for support. Virtually no documentation and simply uploading a mp3 file does not make this work. I had to search the internet and get information on XSPF file format and created a playlist and also added the mime type (which is not mentioned anywhere) and still it does not work. Just to add files and play them seems to me is a very complicated process and not following the principles of what Joomla is all about (Simple and Easy).

Hopefully some of these will be fixed in a future revision. I have removed the component and will visit it again in the future.

All in all a good idea but too complicated.

link status by SwedMiro, May 29, 2007
This is an elegant solution and the best looking joomla musikplayer so far. Though i agree with the earlier speakers about the lack of english support. The introduction text is incomprehensible, although very amusing. Is there any italian-english speaker that can help them write a better introduction text atleast?

My question is this, the introduction text is mentioning a way to upload files via the backend, which i haven't found yet. Is there one?

TIP: I put my mp3 files on my own site and i couldnt get the xspf file to load into the player. The example shows a full, static link but i found that i had to use a link that started from my joomla root directory.

A good start by Malady, May 29, 2007
Ive been playing with this and I have to say I'm pretty impressed by it and the possibilities of where it is going. Getting the actual music files to play is a bit complicated as you have to create by hand an XSPF file for each track which stinks if you don't know how to do it and provides for a bit of a learning curve. My biggest complaint is its lack of English documentation. Several things within the componant and module are written in Italian with no translation anywhere and the authors website is completely in Italian with no option to read it in English. Trying to figure out what is where in the coding which is done in Italian is a bit difficult as well.

Being able to read the website or support forums in English to try and figure out the XSPF issues would be a major plus to this.. otherwise unless you know and can read Italian you're going to struggle with this componant.

Ecellent as far as interface goes. I am experiencing a break in the template (left) when only one module is published (on the right).

I really like the idea of this component to organize my podcasts. Seems like it would work well for that, if I can manage to figure out what is causing the break in template.
