This plugin rendered my webpage invisible. I got an "Direct Access to this location is not allowed." error on all pages and had to remove the extension through phpmyadmin before I could use my site again!

You could get such a message ONLY if you have installed PDA-mambot in Joomla!1.5. Note, that for Joomla!1.5 there is a DIFFERENT version: http://physicist.phpnet.us/2007/10/20/pdaplugin-joomla-15/

I couldn't figure this out until I found this little tutorial on his site. Once i stepped through it, I had it working like a charm. Wish it was a little more intuitive.

I downloaded this not expecting it to do much. I was pleasently surprised at how efficient the plugin is. Works like a charm in J!1.5 Stable! Just install and publish. Very much a Fire-and-Forget Plugin.

The template is just a catch-all type template which is easily modified to your needs. Definately a good base to start with.

Just tried using this extension and found it did as it promised.. I recommend this to every one who uses joomla site coz it simplifies the site fit for mobile device and you can customize the menu and stuffs that you want your site to be viewed in mobile device..

The only negative point is, I wanted to keep my site www.mobilestuffs.in for desktop version and wanted to make sub domain m.mobilestuffs.in for mobile version. I wanted to keep two different URL to get indexed in google mobile web. The sub domain option did not work though it is available. I even applied the patch and tried in different way.

Finally i have to use the same url www.mobilestuffs.in for mobile also. This is the only thing i was not satisfied.. Other than this I wondering on this work. coz i was thinking what to do for mobile version as the site give frees stuffs to mobile. When i found this extension I was very much happy.. Thanks a lot to the owner.

This mambot is extreme useful.
I installed it, fit the template to my needs and it works.
Great :)

One minute I had no PDA website, the next minute... I did! This was by far the easiest and most effective addition to my site. And I'm running Joomla 1.5! Easy to customize the template or create your own.

This is a great little plug-in. My only complaint is there is a bit of a lack of information on exactly how to use it.

In summary, you need to:

1. Create a sub-domain for your site. Point it to the main location of where Joomla was installed.

2. Upload the mobile template (edit first, if you want).

3. Install the mambot. Note that a lot of people have complained that they get errors when trying to install it (as did I). To work around this, simply download the mambot, extract the files, put them in a new zip file, and use that to install. It worked for others, as well as myself.

Aside from that, GREAT little plug-in! It just hooks up with Joomla and serves a pared-down version of your page. If you don't like how it looks, just change the template file like you would any other template for Joomla.

This is a great extension! it took me a few minutes to figure out that i had to make different module positions, copy the mods i wanted displayed, and then assign them to the possessions in the bot but i'm only on my first cup of coffee so i'll take the blame there. i'm very pleased that it took me 15 mins to make my site compatible with my smart phone!

Excellent Mambot! Works just like it says it is supposed to. I test my Mobile site versions with my Treo and this mambot does the trick just fine. Perhaps you should inquire about including this mambot with future releases of Joomla... (just a thought)

I was blown away when I installed this. I was dubious that it would work at all. But then browsed my site with my Black Berry and it was like magic. There was my site... shrunk down to a low calorie version. Very nice work.

I had been looking at enabling this functionality on some of my sites for some time now and had finally set aside the day to play. After installing this bot the sites were finished within 5 minutes!!! Thanks for the great work!!!

Once I figured out that I had to download and install the pda.zip into the sites templates, everything was golden!

You will have to do some digging on the site to find the download link for the pda.zip though.

You don't have to publish the pda template, just point your mobile device to your regular TLD and the mambot does the rest.

Oh, and yes it works with Joomla 1.0.13

Took all of 1 minute to install and publish things. I then hit my site on my laptop and everything looked the same as before. I then logged in using my Treo and the the site was stripped down for faster loading. Now all I have to do is mess with the template a bit to get what I want to show. Very easy to use.
