mod_sectionnav is a module for Joomla 1.0.x that lets you create a navigation menu for the sections of your site. The menu that will be generated consists of three levels: sections, categories, and content items.

So good, it should be part of the joomla core! by corsair_moran, January 29, 2007

Thank you, I needed this real bad. My website is huge and has 3 distinct "levels". Each level needs it own independent navigation, to make these "levels" obvious to the user. This module does the job for me.

But i really wish it had a "module_class_suffix". And other ways to customize its plain look. Also, it would be nice if there was some way to change the "blog" that gets displayed when a section or category is clicked. I wanted to display just the section or category description instead of all the items like a "blog".

Great module, helped me a lot. Hope the author can use his skills to make it more customizable for us plain folks.

very good by martinschm, December 17, 2006

hi,

this extension does exactly what I was looking for. Great work. I was surprised that Joomla doesn't offer dynamic menu structure. It was easy to install and I didn't have any problems so far (after playing with it for half an hour)

you might also be interested in secionmenu by the same author.
I prefer sectionnav because it gives you the option to have the menu expanded at all times which sectionmenu doesn't.

cheers
martin

Unzip it first by mikeall, December 12, 2006

mwiseley had issues installing it. Unzip the .zip file first to find the actual .zip file that needs to be uploaded.

Required Manual Install by mwiseley, November 7, 2006

For some reason this module wouldn't install from the zip. After installing it manually, it did work, however. I had to read the source code to figure out how to customize it with parameters. So, definitely rough, but now that it's working it's a great module - something like this should definitely be included in the core.

Automatic section menus by all80a, August 23, 2006

This is exactly what I was looking for. No more adding menu items manually.

It even works brilliantly with CSS flyouts (no javascript required). Worked immediately from the install file into Joomla 1.0.10.

I've even successfully used this as a Category menu by using CSS to hide the section headings. The CSS tagging is great.

If you know CSS, you can really make this module excel.

An Excellent module by TrueSatan, April 7, 2006

Actually the author doesn't do his product justice in the text provided on this site...it allows one to have the sections displayed in an alphabeticl list that overrides the order of entry of the sections...very useful.
