Expose Flash Gallery
Exposé is a Flash-based tool which allows you to create eye-catching slide shows of your pictures on the web. A list of the features supported by exposé includes the following:

- direct linking to a photo or album
- a slide show can be automatically started
- a background/foreground image can be loaded
- more interface elements can be now customized
- album Manager nows uses Joomla Authentication
- smoother Interface
- iframe has been removed, full php integration
- easier to adjust the size using only the expose.html.php
- improved background color adjustments
- check_system.php script added for troublshooting
- supports SEF URL's (being re-worked currently, limited functionality)
- upload/add background image through Joomla backend

The small footprint of the Flash clips and an intelligent loading of resources allow even dialup users to have a seamless experience viewing your photos. exposé is FREE for personal use.

The PHP Album Manager has very strict system requirements but is not needed to add new pics to you gallery (this is just another option if you have these extensions on your server). You can also install the Windows (or Mac) Album Manager found here: http://www.slooz.com/trinkets.php

After you have downloaded the Album Manager login to your server via FTP and change directory to [JoomlaRoot]/components/com_expose and copy down the expose folder to your desktop or anywhere you know where to access it at. Lastly, open your Newly installed Album Manager and it will ask you where you expose folder is, just point it to that folder and you can edit away.

After you are done when you close the album manager it will ask you if you would like to save your configurations, Click "YES" and then re-upload the folder and you are all set. Create a Joomla Menu pointing to that component and it will look awesome!

This component is a bridge to the Expose Gallery found here http://www.slooz.com This bridge is released as GNU/GPL but expose is under its original author's license agreement found here, http://slooz.com/trinkets.php?proj=expose If you have any questions please feel free to leave comments and/or suggestions in the forums listed below.

Expose is solid! by dagdal1967, August 7, 2007
I needed a way for my club to have a great photo album that is maintainable by our photographer without giving him access to the back end. WORKS LIKE A CHARM

Brilliant by sdhinternet, August 1, 2007
Have no Idea why people below have said they had problems getting this to work, it runs as smooth as water off a ducks ass, seriously, have purchased album software that does not even come close to matching EXPOSE 4 - Yer get video as well, awwww come on, ya cant tell me that not good......and Its FREE....come on, you wont get that much for Christmas...

Seriously Xpose 4 - Bloody Fantastic

Everything you want and easy to use. by photopyle, July 26, 2007
I couldn't get slide show pro figured out for the life of me when a buddy suggested I try expose 4. OMG do I kick myself for all the time I wasted with slide show pro! Expose installed and working in literally minutes. I was able to totally customize the layout to make it the way I needed and the fact that I no longer have to put a watermark on any of my photo's before uploading saves me mucho time. If you need a joomla gallery, look no further. You can see my gallery here: http://www.photopyle.com

Nice "Flashy" Gallery by lars.andersen@ipinion.dk, July 26, 2007
I have used Expose for several jobs the past year or so, and i find the component very easy to configure and use.

Only one thing... Why can the thums for each category only be is the standard size? Why not make this a varible to?

Thanks for the compont - it ROCKS !

Very good aspect but gots security issues... by hugo.tavares, July 21, 2007

I've been using Exposé on my own site. I like this tool, it's a very good manager for my galleries and so on, but unfortunatly it has got some vulneralities: it is vulnerable to RFI (Remote Fuile Inclution) attacks, specially on its components (the uploadimg.php file its unsecure).

Try it.

Don't work in PHP5 by andrepedro, July 17, 2007
Great Job, but this extension didn't works in PHP5, because it uses a decrapted library (DOMXML). See: http://php.net/domxml

There is an alternative to use this extension in PHP5 ?

I'd say that this extension is the best gallery extension among all. Easy installation and user friendly interface.

It would be better if it is added with image transition effects.

Thank you very much.

Installation experiences by member1000, June 19, 2007

I took the decision to stick with J1.5. Period. So expose came into question as a com working in this env. Well, I installed the J1.5b2, offered to public at the beginning of May and put over the latest night builds. The install went wrong at first with a) sorry, legacy mode OFF. All right, I set legacy mode ON. b) second try produced error message .. "Do you want to install that com second time?" Why that? I checked the component dirs by simple ftp and there wasn´t anything like com_expose. So to make it short, after diiferent experiments I´ve got out how to get it working ... a) install virgin J1.5b2, b) install expose, c) finally install the latest night build. I had to install night builds because of problems I had with another modules.

There´s also another quite annoying trouble with the com. I couldn´t find a way how to declare to transfer multile files from the bucket - a certain selection - at once, not just a single file which is currently offered.

Nevertheless I use the com and am looking forward when bugs disappear:-)

Excellent component by gregII, June 12, 2007
Once you made it work, it is one of the best component available for joomla. (One little trick for installation: make sure the folder indicated in the manual is set writeable.)

Many thanks to the authors for this great work!

Here is my wish list:
- having public AND password protected albums would be very helpful.
- Optionally set the album manager accessible for public not only via the joomla admin interface.

Wow - is all I can say by midge, May 22, 2007

Well I have never used such a clean and easy to use extension. To the author, well done, a credit to you and thank you so much for sharing it with us all. The only addition I would like to see (unless I have missed it somewhere) is to allow the use of the photos already existing on my server, rather than having to re-upload them from my station and also the ability to add text to the index page a little easier. Other than that, a big thumbs up, brilliant.

What a great and beautiful display! by frazelle09, May 18, 2007

Unfortunately i was unable to figure out how to use it after i had uploaded it and it had successfully installed.

i kept having to login to the Album Manager!

Once i was in, i tried uploading a picture or pictures, but everytime i would get halfway through my hard disk's file system, looking for the subdirectory which holds the pictures, the screen would suddenly turn grey, appearing as if it were going to begin a disply. A very impatient program! Never could upload any pictures.

After 4 hours, i quit.

Have a great evening! :)

Could not get it working by Tony4x4, May 16, 2007

Looks like a great product but I struggled to get it to work. My server met all the requirements but I kept getting "Could not communicate with the server". I tried some of the suggestions in the forum but still no luck.

Hopefully future versions will be more robust.

I would definitly try again with future versions.

One of the best extensions I've come across by philistiner, May 15, 2007

Having downloaded over 50 extensions, this gallery impressed me so much I registered for an account here just to review it!

- Extremely easy installation
- Great gallery management in Joomla Admin
- Easy easy uploads (no zip files or individual file limitations)
- Beautiful flash galleries for front end viewers
- huge list of settings that can be changed in the admin panel (ie without hunting through code endlessly)
- No glitches as far as I've seen!
