Exposé is a Flash-based tool which allows you to create eye-catching slide shows of your pictures on the web. A list of the features supported by exposé includes the following:

- direct linking to a photo or album
- a slide show can be automatically started
- a background/foreground image can be loaded
- more interface elements can be now customized
- smoother Interface
- iframe has been removed, full php integration
- easier to adjust the size using only the expose.html.php
- improved background color adjustments
- check_system.php script added for troublshooting
- supports SEF URL's (being re-worked currently, limited functionality)
- upload/add background image through Joomla backend

The small footprint of the Flash clips and an intelligent loading of resources allow even dialup users to have a seamless experience viewing your photos. exposé is FREE for personal use.

The PHP Album Manager has very strict system requirements but is not needed to add new pics to you gallery (this is just another option if you have these extensions on your server). You can also install the Windows (or Mac) Album Manager found here: http://www.slooz.com/trinkets.php

After you have downloaded the Album Manager login to your server via FTP and change directory to [JoomlaRoot]/components/com_expose and copy down the expose folder to your desktop or anywhere you know where to access it at. Lastly, open your Newly installed Album Manager and it will ask you where you expose folder is, just point it to that folder and you can edit away.

After you are done when you close the album manager it will ask you if you would like to save your configurations, Click "YES" and then re-upload the folder and you are all set. Create a Joomla Menu pointing to that component and it will look awesome!

Having downloaded over 50 extensions, this gallery impressed me so much I registered for an account here just to review it!

- Extremely easy installation
- Great gallery management in Joomla Admin
- Easy easy uploads (no zip files or individual file limitations)
- Beautiful flash galleries for front end viewers
- huge list of settings that can be changed in the admin panel (ie without hunting through code endlessly)
- No glitches as far as I've seen!

Galleries using joomla can be problematic. Some brilliant work on one version can be spoiled by a new edition that has some bug or other. That's the price users have to pay to get software that is freely available and constantly improving. Expose is one such program and there were minor irritations such as the album manager working offline under XP and not working online using Linux (now fixed, at least on the site I use) but the ability to organise galleries and the quality and speed of the presentation of both photo and video is unsurpassed. The filmstrip simply whizzes through pictures and videos which can then be selected and expanded. Some of the bells and whistles used by other gallery software are missing and it is more suitable for the administrator/manager/author to submit content. Flash must also be downloaded and installed if videos are to be played and flash video files(flv) have to be pre-created from avi,mpg etc prior to uploading. These are considerably smaller than traditional media files and so save a lot of space but a local program is needed to create these .flv files (Under XP I use a freeware package called super.exe that was excellent, if a little complex to understand). The best joomla web solution is to have more than one gallery as although other galleries are better for some things, this gallery certainly adds something to the users visual experience that the others do not. It's just a little bit more work for admins.

When it come to galleries and joomla this is where the user normally gets let down.

But expose has provided us all with the best gallery there is to implement into any joomla site, if you are looking for quality look no further this gallery does the job that no other can.

Don't know what else to say. Nice idea but the latest download gives me this and only this on the screen:

I really like this component. Very nice look, easy to install and configure. I've tried other picture gallery extensions but this one really fulfill my need. Hope in the next version it could have specify which albums can be seen by which user groups just like Coppermine. Thanks for sharing this. Keep up the good work.

This is a really cool gallery - with great support from the guys and gals at the forum. It is very flexible as well. I think one of the neatest features (for me) is that it will take your images, and make them look great - with ease. Great component!! Thank you!!

This seems to be excellently well written. Installs clean, uninstalls clean. It has a nice appearance and displays well IF you have shell access, or a flexible host administrator. For those who are unable to modify php.ini, even if the system meets all other requirements, this seems to be a non-player, and support will be non-existent. It isn't that they don't have an active forum... They just won't be bothered with you.

If you have trouble, uninstall it. If you ask for help you will be sent a link to basic php information or you will be told to RTFM. Your request will be answered promptly though...

For those who do not have control over their php installation, who don't wish to return to school in order to use an image gallery, or simply don't understand the instructions, use anything else.

This extension COULD use image upload methods more consistent with other Joomla extensions. With this extension, you will do it the way the author set it up or not at all. No support.

The instructions indicate that a "bucket" folder may be used to ftp upload and then the images may be published from there. No bucket folder in the indicated directory and no way to create one... The extension interferes with ftp authentication for the extension directory and you might not be able to either create the folder or upload to it...

A convenient set of system checks is provided... Your system may seem to pass the checks and still fail to use this extension. Asking in the forum will return stock replies.

This extension can interfere with the ability to control CHMOD permissions and FTP authentication for the directory.
Anything beyond that suddenly became a non-issue.

Owner's reply:
I just wanted to point out that only made the bridge and not the core expose gallery portions. If you are not happy about some of those functions please do not rate this bridge project low. We dont have access to changing any of those properties. The file permissions are not being changed by this app at all, this all depends on how your web server is setup/managed.

I just love this gallery,

Almost everything is adjustable (colors settings etc). You have to get used to the uploading and selecting, but that's done with just playing with it.

The look is awesome.

Good job, and thanks for a very nice addon to my personal website.

This is one of the best extensions I've seen in a long time. It is not, however, the easiest install. Be sure and read the installation instructions and, if you cannot find the answer there, they have a good forum that offers quick response.

All in all, I was bound and determined to get this up and running because it is one of those types of features that a site simply must have.

This is an excellent extension! I only have one little problem with it and that is that I cannot return to the index of the galleries after viewing one, I have to click the "Back" button in my browser and start over again. Not a huge problem, but a minor annoyance.

EXCELLENT Extension! recommended for anyone who has an image gallery!
