Expose Flash Gallery
Exposé is a Flash-based tool which allows you to create eye-catching slide shows of your pictures on the web. A list of the features supported by exposé includes the following:

- direct linking to a photo or album
- a slide show can be automatically started
- a background/foreground image can be loaded
- more interface elements can be now customized
- smoother Interface
- iframe has been removed, full php integration
- easier to adjust the size using only the expose.html.php
- improved background color adjustments
- check_system.php script added for troublshooting
- supports SEF URL's (being re-worked currently, limited functionality)
- upload/add background image through Joomla backend

The small footprint of the Flash clips and an intelligent loading of resources allow even dialup users to have a seamless experience viewing your photos. exposé is FREE for personal use.

The PHP Album Manager has very strict system requirements but is not needed to add new pics to you gallery (this is just another option if you have these extensions on your server). You can also install the Windows (or Mac) Album Manager found here: http://www.slooz.com/trinkets.php

After you have downloaded the Album Manager login to your server via FTP and change directory to [JoomlaRoot]/components/com_expose and copy down the expose folder to your desktop or anywhere you know where to access it at. Lastly, open your Newly installed Album Manager and it will ask you where you expose folder is, just point it to that folder and you can edit away.

After you are done when you close the album manager it will ask you if you would like to save your configurations, Click "YES" and then re-upload the folder and you are all set. Create a Joomla Menu pointing to that component and it will look awesome!

This component is a bridge to the Expose Gallery found here http://www.slooz.com This bridge is released as GNU/GPL but expose is under its original author's license agreement found here, http://slooz.com/trinkets.php?proj=expose If you have any questions please feel free to leave comments and/or suggestions in the forums listed below.

Excellent work! by bbhsoft, September 17, 2008
But... i couldn't use cirillyc to set an album name and so on, otherwise it's VERY VERY VERY good. I'm a developer too and i know how much tough work that is. I hope other people think about that too and donate.

Thank you.

Sweet, but one detail by robert.deboer, September 9, 2008

Joomla 1.5.6 - PHP 4.4.9 - MySQL 5.0.67 - Shared Hosting Package 1&1 Web Hosting

I have been a faithful follower of this extension, one because it has a 1.5 native version, and two it does everything I need a photo/video extension to do (multiple file upload is a huge plus) all in a very slick and quick shell (both for the viewers and for the administration).

However, one problem that I and others I believe have is that I am unable to upload any pictures (on a localhost development machine or a web host), either directly or by ftping photos to the bucket. It either says the pictures are uploaded but are not actually there, or it just stops when trying to trying from the bucket. And I think this problem has been around for a little time. Checking on the developers forums shows threads, but no sovling responses ( and little responses at that).

I love this extension for the potential it has, but I have not been able to use for this one problem (which has gone on for some time). One it is fixed, I will make the switch, but until then I will have to use a substitute.

Excellent, Thanks! by CoosCreations, September 8, 2008

Once you get your head around the basics behind Expose, it's a really great tool!

I can now add an amazing looking gallery in super-fast time and get images on-board so quickly!

I would love to see a list of URLs for the galleries - right now, to hot-link to a specific gallery I have to pull the gallery ID out of the XML file (no biggie, just not the best!)

The number of configuration options might be a little much for some people but you can see that Josh (& co) have really thought this through at the microscopic level to make Expose as powerful and flexible as possible.

THANK YOU! :)

You should read the documentation before leaving bad reviews.

Difficult to install. No Support by AprilFloyd, August 23, 2008

After looking at various gallery components - read the reviews on this and tried it out.

Installed OK, but photos do not upload even although the messages say they have. Obviously settings have to be changed somewhere.

Tried forums, tried manual, offered to pay for component.
developer cannot be contacted so you are high and dry. You can't buy a licence or support even though website says you can.

Pity. It looked promising

Great Flash Extension by harley130, August 1, 2008

Downloaded, installed and configured in about 30 minutes time. Everything worked flawlessly. I'm using Godaddy and had no problems. I tried both FTP'ing of pics and using the upload feature, both worked as expected. The video part is misleading in that it will only play flash movies and not other kind of movie files that I could see. Maybe that is all that it was designed to do, I don't know.
Overall I give this an excellent rating and recommend it highly. Keep up the good work Josh.

Expose is excellent, but mod_exposescroller need to updated by Chow, July 28, 2008
New expose support SEF URL, but click exposescroller image return "null" page.
But, if I using expose gallery, exposescroller's image URL is correct and work normally.

Very nice and simple by rajabe, July 3, 2008

I was trying a number of photo gallery extentions. They had one problem or the other. If they were good, then the website would get to a crawl.

Finally I hit upon Expose 4. I did have a few timeout sessions initially, but it went fine after my 4th attempt. After installing when I got to the Component (I am running Joomla 1.5), the interface wouldn't come up as I didn't have DOMXML (I was running PHP 4). Tried getting DOMXML but PHP.net stopped supporting it.

I then thought it would be better to take the risk of upgrading to PHP 5. After the PHP upgrade, the interface came up. Uploaded and organized the albums. Everything looking great!!

Excellent extention. Site has not speed issues. Recommend it.

Excellent product, very few niggles for an alpha by draftvader, June 30, 2008
I installed the latest 4.6.3c alpha and got it up and running in a few minutes. I only encountered 1 error and that appears to be a glitch with Firefox 3.0 (and there are a few FF glitches in 3.0 anyway!).
Once I established that I was better off working with the desktop app to set up my galleries work has been great and I just dump the update before I go to bed.
Excellent. Would love to see integration for Virtuemart in a future release.

Thanks to the writer and the forum members. You guys are great.

Excellent looks, but had a bit of trouble first... by yoursporttube, June 22, 2008
5 Stars for looks. 5 Stars for the NEW BACKEND on the new version. I mean, this is the dogs!

But I had troubl getting it to work. It said could not access server. What I did was CHANGE THE FILE ON THE EXPOSE BACKEND ON CPANEL TO ".HTACCESS". Then it worked fine, and I can get my ne business up and running. Now I know what to do, it is amazing!

One of the best extensions by k770, June 19, 2008
This is by far one of the best galleries/components I've used with Joomla. The documentation is EXCELLENT and covers just about everything, even touching on additional useful components (the scroller is great too). I have been trying out other galleries and plugins, but very few come with this level of straightforward ease, while also allowing for great customization. Start out by reading the documentation PDF from the download homepage. The Expose4.6.3.alpha plugin works great in 1.5. Best of all it's free, and that's just awesome.

This is the best one! by MoraniecM, June 9, 2008

Can't login after successful installation by DmitryR, May 28, 2008
0 of 1 people find this review helpful:
I have installed it (version 4.6.2) without any problems, but then, unfortunately, it was not possible to login to it with default "manager" password. I think, important things like login/logout should be tested before releasing.

Owner's reply:
This is covered in the manual. It is typically due to not meeting the minimum server requirements.
