Expose Flash Gallery
Exposé is a Flash-based tool which allows you to create eye-catching slide shows of your pictures on the web. A list of the features supported by exposé includes the following:

- direct linking to a photo or album
- a slide show can be automatically started
- a background/foreground image can be loaded
- more interface elements can be now customized
- smoother Interface
- iframe has been removed, full php integration
- easier to adjust the size using only the expose.html.php
- improved background color adjustments
- check_system.php script added for troublshooting
- supports SEF URL's (being re-worked currently, limited functionality)
- upload/add background image through Joomla backend

The small footprint of the Flash clips and an intelligent loading of resources allow even dialup users to have a seamless experience viewing your photos. exposé is FREE for personal use.

The PHP Album Manager has very strict system requirements but is not needed to add new pics to you gallery (this is just another option if you have these extensions on your server). You can also install the Windows (or Mac) Album Manager found here: http://www.slooz.com/trinkets.php

After you have downloaded the Album Manager login to your server via FTP and change directory to [JoomlaRoot]/components/com_expose and copy down the expose folder to your desktop or anywhere you know where to access it at. Lastly, open your Newly installed Album Manager and it will ask you where you expose folder is, just point it to that folder and you can edit away.

After you are done when you close the album manager it will ask you if you would like to save your configurations, Click "YES" and then re-upload the folder and you are all set. Create a Joomla Menu pointing to that component and it will look awesome!

This component is a bridge to the Expose Gallery found here http://www.slooz.com This bridge is released as GNU/GPL but expose is under its original author's license agreement found here, http://slooz.com/trinkets.php?proj=expose If you have any questions please feel free to leave comments and/or suggestions in the forums listed below.

Much improved! by z33k3r, September 28, 2006
Expose has come a long way! RC1 now includeds auto installer for both PHP4 & PHP5 and the backend manager now works finally lol! :D

Things I would like to see are GUI integrated options for all the settings you have to change in the XML files (ie: help on/off, positioning, and for crying out loud, the option to center and modify the size of the flash object).

Easy as 1-2-3 by earthcorp, September 25, 2006
worked like a charm all round in under 5 mins.

Not ready for prime time... by overeasy, August 29, 2006

It's been a frustrating experience trying to get this component to work correctly.
As is all too typical with OS software, there are a lot of "gotchas" you discover only after you try the thing, a lot of "still working on its" and "did you try re-uploading such and such?" and "what version are you using?"

It IS a nice-looking and elegant interface, due to the Flash implementation, but looks alone aren't enough for me. And the truth is, I just don't have time to do all the futzing around with it. I need something that works on MOST SERVERS, right out of the box. From what I can see, Expose is not that.

I wish them well, and the attempts at support have been great, but I just think this is missing the robustness and cross-server compatibility it needs....

Very Nice by ItchySox, August 28, 2006
I just wanted to say thank you for your excellent work and to point out that if the copyright info or watermark aren't visible in the resized images or they're underlaying the buttons, try reducing the size of the medium image. My settings for the Small Edition are 480x400 for the medium size image. N.B. RC1 (PHP5) can be converted to Small Edition.

great job, very impressive by Baobab, August 20, 2006
I am definitely going to use this component a lot, It looks great and it works flawlessly.
I have tested it quite thoroughly and I have only a few remarks; when using option "show large images" these images are downloadable and I would like to be able to prevent that, when I want to use larger images inside the flash component the images strech over the navigation buttons so that is not an option either, also "add copyright" information seems not to work but maybe I am doing something wrong.
Anyway; my compliments to the developers

Thank you! by hils, August 10, 2006
Just what I needed. Worked right out of the box. Referring to an earlier post, it works for me in IE6 and Firefox. Once I realised that saving descriptions needed the right mouse click menu everything was easy. The only little downside is the description for the albums. It is a very tiny box and the text was cut off on the right side. I probably need to investigate further.

All in all this is an excellent component and recommended.

Thank you again from Hils

Good Product by ophate, August 8, 2006
It works well. I actually just linked from the front end to the manager and prepended the manager script with the standard blurb to prevent direct access.

Oh, and Godaddy supports the manager.

Some do Some Don't by SvnX, July 31, 2006
I've found this gallery to be excellent. The only problem is when your webhosting provider dosent support DOMXML and icons.

I have various clients that use either 1and1, Netfirms or GoDaddy. I've only been able to get this gallery to work with 1and1. Netfirms said they 'Might' upgrade their service to support those proticals but not in the near furture. GoDaddy never responded to my email.

So...if your having issues getting this to work, I would bet it's not Expose...it's your webhosting provider.

Excellent by punz, July 27, 2006
Easy to install, modify and the support is awesome.

Couldn't belive it was so easy by level99x, July 26, 2006
Starting out I had thought that it would be difficult to install and use. I installed the expose zip file to my home directory and then the php manager file to my /expose/expose that I renamed the logged in to the control panel and changed my password. It was that simple, there was no extra steps involved. BAM 15 mins start to finish. I use 1and1 http://www.1and1.com/?k_id=10574564

This component is great, the interface is very clean and easy to manage, same goes for the back-end!

Simple installation:
-upload your desired component (upload the small version if you have a regulated width and height template)
-create a link to the component on your site
-log into the component using the default password, "manager".
-create album, upload photos!

Nice work but.. by chikiku, July 3, 2006
as all others here I can't upload anything.

So.. get rid of that and code a flickr.com connection and it will rock. It's not very nice to relly on things no hosting-provider will provide users.

Another recommendation: The frontend is to tall for my laptop.

AMAZING by bietz, June 28, 2006
this is amazing the new bata fixed a lot of bugs try it again this is the best cleanest gallery i have ever seen fantastic work

the best free gallery by dalusoha, June 6, 2006
Wonderful, marvelous and incredible. Among all the other free gallery I had ever tried, this is the best.
1. Incredible exquisite and clean and fantastic frontend.
2. Very efficient batch upload and resizing images power.
3. Allow the video display simultaneously.

I would like to give my best appreciation to the author. Thanks so much. Dont be frustrated about the installation, it is worthy of trying and trying.

Recently I installed the PHP version 5 successfully using the recommendation of jbar (http://forum.joomla.org/index.php/topic,66160.0.html).
if you are using php4, it is ok too, I have installed it successfully in machine using php4.

Go ahead.

Finally got it working by Tennesse Mom, May 28, 2006
For 2 days I've been begging and pleading for this component to work. I've read everything thing I can find on this, and I still could not get anything to upload. How did I get it to work? I used IE instead of Firefox. I even went back and tried to upload the same (but renamed) videos that I had just uploaded using IE with Firefox and it just wouldn't work. Kept getting that "sever error" message. Hopefully this will work for other people having upload problems too.
