Its a great component. It makes your article layout look very friendly, professional and clean. I wish core Joomla! would look a little bit more like this.
However.
It conflicts with other applications. When it stops working, you are on your own as there are so many bugs and incompatibilities (due to the sheer customisation and functionality of this component I guess). There is no help available to help you with your particular problem.
This is the unfortunate thing. mXcomment shows you how good the things can be, so nothing else comes close, unfortunately mXcomment does not work reliably enough to be used in a production site.
Perhaps one day I'll be able to install it again and actually have it working. |

Easy to use, simple explanations in admin backend, many features.
Now working great with 1.5.2 version, where some legacy issues were upgraded. |

A strong component with great documentation (forum & more) and many options for use. MxComment adds a lot to a standard comments system - including the ability to 'tag' items with keywords as well. That's very useful.
The developer allows you to select from a range of themes and the component itself is highly configurable. I was able to customize it to my template following some posts on the forums.
Overall, a solid component, and best of all, free. |

I was initially very impressed by the way this looks and integrates immediately into the site. However there are quite a few tweaks you need to do as well as making visits to the forum to find stuff out. I started to get spam straight away and the spam component is separate, needing several hacks to be made. Then the 'Mail a friend' option didn't work so regrettably I have uninstalled it. It's a shame - maybe if the developer really sorted it out he could sell it as a top-class product. Maybe its OK if you like lots of hacking. |

This component is just awesome. i dont have better words. i have tried em all, joomlacomment, akocomment and other 30 modules. nothing had worked. and then i installed this mxcomment. OMG, it configured itself. it fetched populars, latest articles and hits information and incorporated it in its system. i also have the option to increase or decrease security, comments or filter em.
Way to go guys. And by the way the people who have created joomla really deserve a standing ovation. its just fabulous how they are working day and night to help promote a FREE WORLD as we were supposed to live in. |

This extension really is professionally presented and well documented. It's very easy to use and integrates well with Joomla.
My only negative feedback is that the extension does not work in Joomla 1.5 if Search Engine Friendly links are enabled.
Also I have not been able to get Captcha's to work in Joomla 1.5.
I have tried numerous other comments systems on Joomla 1.5 and this is definitely the best. If SEF and Captcha's are important to you, then try yvComment instead. |

I am running over 20 online communities and websites using Joomla 1.5RC2 with Community Builder. I registered with Joomla.org just so I could post a comment about this extension (says alot).
I'm glad to say that mXcomment v1.0.6 works perfectly with my communities.
Pros:
-It installed quickly and with no errors.
-The backend is amazing and provides for easy access and navigation to the extensions' configuration.
-It is highly configurable and requires no programming knowledge (for those of you new to this).
-Easily templated and also worked with some of the latest YooTheme and RocketTheme templates.
-Looks very nice and smooth with no "ugly" code.
Cons:
- Doesn't provide the ability to import bad word lists from text files or csv. This sucks because that means I have to add each word individually. Do you know how many bad words are out there? This should be available with the next release.
- I may have overlooked this. But there doesn't seem to be a way to have comments shown automatically. By default it minimizes comments and requires a viewer to un-minimize to view a comment. For websites that receive hundreds of comments a day to a single article, this can become someone of a pain. I wouldn't mind seeing this as an option in future realeses.
Overall:
I am glad that I found this extension. It's now been rolled out to all my production servers and I haven't experienced one error. That's better than almost any other Joomla extension I've dealt with. I would highly recommend this to anyone who's looking for a sound comments extension.
I am unable to provide a review about customer support for this product. As I haven't had any issues, I have had no need to contact support. And I'm not complaining!!!

Other than a few language hiccups (the result of a Frenchman trying his best at Anglais) for the English setting - it is everything I want it to be. Those can be corrected through administrator/components/com_maxcomment/languages/ and selecting the applicable language. Apart from the grammar and spelling errors in the display messages, it is a great extension. |

This is a beautiful component, but unfortunatly produced over 400 W3C errors for transitional XHMTL 1.0 when I installed it.
Looking forward to future editions, though.

I've been looking for a good commenting system for Joomla 1.5.
I found this, and wow, am I blown away! I was trying to sacrifice on options such as keywords for your articles etc., but this component not only handles comments, but ratings, keywords, related articles, and a whole lot of stuff so easily!
All in all, it's amazing. USE IT! And yes, it's better than the other systems out there, uses AJAX and all that as well |

This extension is 1st rate.
It installed without error, very easy to configure. The back end is so slick and the front end has lots of templates to match your site.
I can't rate this high enough. I you are looking for a comment system for Joomla 1.5 look no further. |
