SearchCloud and Lists 2.2 - SEO Boost - 1.5 Native

This module generates a Cloud or a List of popular search strings.

Version 2.1 features an improved functionality for the Whitelist (whitelist items are strings that will appear in the module independently of logged searches).

Webmasters can add as many whitelist items as they wish and then set the number of items that will randomly appear at each page refresh. This feature will provide variety without overcrowding the module and search engines will just love it!

Other SearchCloud features:
- Strings display as Cloud, Ordered List or Unordered List.
- Customizable font weighting systems.
- MySQL-style Search String Blacklist.
- Perfect integration with any Joomla! template.

IMPORTANT: 'Log Search Strings' must be set to 'Yes' in Joomla 'Global Configuration', 'Statistics'.

To update:
1. With regular un-install re-install procedure: backup your Blacklist and Whitelist, or
2. Just unzip the installation file and drop the content into the /modules/ directory

Looks great, could be better by 4john, February 17, 2008

This module does NOT do what you think it will, i.e. display search keywords that traffic lands on your site with. It shows what searches are done INSIDE your site, in the search box. I'd guess that 99% of people are going to be disappointed here.

Doesn't matter that it's commercial, it's dirt cheap anyway - but the developer should make it clear that it does not display search traffic. That would be excellent if he could do that - I'd pay 5 times more for that.

The module looks excellent when you do some CSS, give it a bg image etc. Pity it doesn't do what you think. Would need a component anyway, a simple module couldn't get data from logs or wherever.

What you have to do is go to your server stats (AWstats maybe), once a week, and get the site searches - paste them into a list - go to a searchbox in Joomla and paste them in one by one, clicking how many times the search traffic came. That's the only way to do it at the moment - unless you know better...

This module is awesome. At first I had a bit of trouble getting it to display the way that I wanted it to, but I emailed Pietro explaining the problem and he helped me solve it right away. Now things are working great and I am really happy with the results i've been having with it.

Right after installing and configuring, this worked. Never had a problem and the results are great. This is by far the best Tag Cloud type tool for Joomla! thus far.

Easy to setup and install, works out of the box, clean and lite.

Issues:
Odd characters showing up(site is both French and English and sometimes certain characters like é show in the word search as
cosmÃ©tiques for example. The Ã© should be é, but not sure this is a bug or that of that of users country and character setup. For the moment, the black list is handy, but in some cases the search term is valid and highly weighted.

Wishlist
One of the things that I would love to see would be a integrated style(template) option.

Sorry, I cannot replicate the é problem. Have you checked if the correct words (like cosmétiques) are also logged in 'jos_core_log_searches'?

I can give you a hint, put %Ã©% in the blacklist. This will block all the words containing the error from showing up.

I'd be grateful if you could report your issue also in our forum, so that other users can comment.

This is the most simple to set up extension in this catergory that I have seen so far. A big plus is the way it seamlessly fits into the basic site design no matter the template and is extremely versatile.

The backend has a variety of setings that can be used to further customise the look and feel of the mod.

i am very impressed and must commenf the developer for this mod.
