AxtaWeb Site Manager (ASM)
ASM is the fastest and easiest way to complete Joomla!'s most common tasks. ASM works with any web standards-based Joomla! template (XHTML & CSS). After adding just three lines of code to your template and installing ASM, you are up and running! ASM has been tested with a large number of custom templates, as well as templates from Rocket Themes, etc... ASM is also a perfect tool for webmasters to use with their clients. With ASM's intuitive interface, content owners can be trained in minutes to manage common tasks without needing access to Joomla's back-end. Features in this release include: 1) Point and Click moving of modules 2) Drag and Drop Menu reordering 3) Add content quickly and easily from the front-end.

Available in four languages: English, French, German & Spanish

NOTE: After install, please DO NOT publish the module "ASM Jumi" that is installed with this component. It needs to remain unpublished for the component to work correctly.

Good luck even downloading this one! by growlcat, October 8, 2008
This extension shows enormous promise. I was able to download the beta version in August, after registering on the site as requested. However, when I returned today to try their stable release, not only did the site not recognise my account, but it was full of errors. When I clicked on the 'existing users login here', I was taken to Axta's site backup section, and there is now way to return to the ASM section or to download it from there.
I tried to register using a different name, but got errors connecting to the database, and still was unable to download.
I emailed the Axta people but have received no response.
Please people, if you want to look like a professional outfit, make sure your website is working properly!

Unrated, concerns by laurel, October 20, 2007

Hi, I can see how this could be useful to web developers, but I have some real concerns in my situation, where my customers manage their own content. From the frontpage, you can move modules and all sorts of stuff without any "undo". Too scary. I prefer to give my users My Content, a front-end content component, as as they get used to Joomla!, slowly teach them the backend as they need to expand their abilities. Also, the GUI (user interface) for this component is awkward, hard to tell what you are doing. I did not give it a fair try because I didn't feel it was safe to turn users loose on, so I am not rating it.

Owner's reply:
Hi Laurel,

I wasn't sure if you are aware of this or not. You have the ability to disable any of the features for your end-users while leaving them available for you to use if you would like. This is done from the admin area of the ASM module.

Must be joomla 1.5 core function by javierkatana, September 13, 2007

We, web devs make every effort to make the frontend of our sites more web2.0 but module and content edition its a very time consuming task due to unpractical steps

install module
go to module manager
publish and select module position
save
go to frontend and refresh
not happy with results, rinse and repeat

for content item menu publishing

create content
create menu for content item
select content item menu position and publish
save
go to frontend and refresh
not happy with results, rinse and repeat

2 tasks that are so often repeated and no one has thought of a better way to do this

until I found this component AxtaWeb Site Manager (ASM)

I always reject beta products but this thing was very promising and after I tested it, WOW

In a demo benchmark using RaveswoodJoomla Server intranet

I did the already mentioned tasks 10 times using the usual method vs AxtaWeb Site Manager (ASM)

The results were NO-BRAINER

Usual method

10 module publish, preview, reposition, republish, preview (whole process each time)
it took me 5 min

AxtaWeb Site Manager (ASM)

10 module publish, preview, reposition, republish, preview (whole process each time)
it took me almost 2 min

Now for content item (create, menu item, publish, preview, edit, preview, edit menu item)

10 content item (create, menu item, publish, preview, edit, preview, edit menu item) (whole process each time)
it took me 9 min

AxtaWeb Site Manager (ASM)

10 content item (create, menu item, publish, preview, edit, preview, edit menu item) (whole process each time)
it took me 4 min

I personally hate using more than 3 or for extensions, since performance its priority over usability, thinking otherwise leads to site desertion, after using this component I say to myself, "finally I feel like a user of joomla, and enjoy using it"

greets to the devs

Best Thing to Happen to Joomla! by WebTrooper, August 27, 2007
ASM is going to change the way Joomla! front end is managed. ASM is still in beta developement and I wouldn't recommend it for production sites, but to say this script is promising is an understatement. All that's needed is some testers and developers to try it out, provide some feedback and help build this awesome extension to true production usefulness.

Well, I Was Looking For Something Like That, Managing Content And Modules From The Frontend, I Searched Alot, And That Component Just Fit In.

A few problems easily remedied by highlander, August 15, 2007

Installed this on one of my test sites and was disappointed at first. I got some errors displayed on screen when trying to move things around even though everything worked as it was supposed to.

There didnt seem to be a forum on the developers website so i sent an email. got a very quick response (several responses in fact) as we entered a Q&A session about my configuration. Seems i got a corrupt download and it was easily fixed by uninstalling the old version and re-installing.

This component has serious potential for those developers wanting to give people a way to move things around easily without having them master the admin backend.
