 So, whats new in 2.0 you ask? I ask what isn't new! The entire component was rewritten from the ground up! PageCache 2.0 shares maybe around 30 lines of code (out of more than 4,000) with 1.0.
To go into every new feature would take forever, so I'll just hit the major points (the one's you'll be most interested in reading).
--More flexable storage system (not only are there more storage types available, but you can easially write and install your own).
--More flexable statistics system (you can choose between file and database, or write your own if you are so inclined).
--More flexable backend language system (the component will choose a language based upon the Joomla default language ($mosConfig_lang). If there isn't a language that matches, it'll pick from the default configured in the backend.
--An upgrader (you no longer need to uninstall the component to upgrade. Just click "Upgrade")
--Support for Cron based refresh (included is a cron script). (See FAQ's for more info)
--Very flexable module system. This system is based off of "triggers" at certain points in the funcionality of the component. Included is an installer to install custom modules.
--The ability to run without a single SQL query (on the front end). The component includes file based modules, so you can configure it to either use the database, or use files. Exclusivly.
--"Clear Cache" module included and installed by default (published next to the logout button by defult) for the Administration section.
--"Cached Pages" section now shows all pages (not just those in the cache). Cached items are identified by the "Time To Live" section. The entire result list is sortable by every column, and you can filter the results by part of the page name. It also computes the average load time for cached pages, uncached pages, and disabled pages. It also displays the total hits.
2.0.1 has just been released, including Many minor (and a few major) bug fixes... If you are using Joomla 1.0.14 or newer, you MUST upgrade to 2.0.1 for the login and other forms to work... Included are also fixes for the fsockopen error, and support for using CURL.

Want your site speeded up? - Pagecache does the job. I have an operatic society site which will be hit by a lot of socity members and show-going visitors. I was worried about the bandwidth and the effect of all these visitors would have on the database. Last thing I want is a slow site. I have installed Pagecache on this Joomla 1.0.15 site and it worked exactly as it should straight after the download.
The only downside to any cache product is that the cache needs to be cleared to allow users to see any dynamic updates others have made. These will naturally trickle through the cache after a while in any case, so it is not really a criticism of pagecache but an observation of the cache-ing in general that you need to be prepared for.
A very good product and I loved the "page generated in 0.15 secs) at the bottom of the page. It really shows the client it is working. I've used other cache products and they have not worked, this one certainly worked for me. Try it! |

This is really a must-have component. The permission of some files had to be changed, but otherwise it's really outstanding. It is a must-have for sites with a lot of components,modules or plug-ins.

After trying out the first version I removed it with in minutes, but this version is definitely a work of Art. Works great, you can definitely tell the performance enhancement. The control page even tells you how long a page took with and without caching. **Great Job** |

A great component for every joomla installation. I have test it with v1.012 and v1.013 and both were running quite easy with the installation. The performance increase is unbelievable. What I am missing is a better docu, I mean a better explanation of the different settings etc. Also I could not find any statement what are the differences between the DB and file caching method, in the view what are the pro's and cons. |

One Word - WOW!
I had big speed problems after installing sh404 SEF. I installed this to see if it would improve things slightly.
Now the site is faster than before I added SEF! If you are using a SEF component and you have noticed a drop in page loading times then install this component.
You wont regret it! |

I already had pagecache 1 and that was good! This is now more configurable and I need that. Certain parts of my site need to be 'live' and others not.. This is very easy to do now. The support on the forum on the website is 2nd to none too!

It looks like this component can much better than other cache components. But unfortunately this component doesn't work with the latest version of Joomla 1.0.13. I have tested it on my website and my site was down after few seconds, frontpage was blank.
Hope those errors will be fixed when time comes.

Hi Developer of PageCache 2.0Beta.
Fantastic Component, speeds up my Page 10times.
Bevor 143s with 56k
now is it only 93seconds.
Fantastic.
I did have to Configure no Livetime at the Configuration.
Also i have fill in a dot in Line 49 at admin.pagecache.php
Orginal: $file = $lang.'pagecache.ini';
Better and without any Errors: $file = $lang.'.pagecache.ini';
