 Xmap is a component based on the popular Joomap component. Xmap allows you to create a map of your site using the structure of your menus. This component adds new powerfull options to Joomap and fixes several bugs reported by many users of Joomap. Some of the new features compared with Joomap are:
* Capability to create more than one sitemap with different preferences for each sitemap.
* Cache system to allow a fastest sitemap generation. Ideally for large or high traffic sites. You can enable or disable this feature independently for each sitemap.
* AJAX based interface (Backend only)
* Exclude easily any menu item from your site map directly from the frontend
* Option to compress the XML sitemap
* Better presentation of the XML sitemap on browsers.
* Compatibility with Joomla 1.5
* You can specify the priority and change frequency params for each menu.
* Shows some statistical information for each sitemap:
o Las visit date.
o Number of links generated on the last visit.
o Number of visits.
* Several bugs fixes reported by Joomap users.

I tried 3 other sitemap extensions and this is the only one that worked for me in Joomla 1.5 in legacy mode. |

Have used these multiple times on my Joomla 1.0 and 1.5 websites. Everytime installs and works like a breeze.
Has good configuration options as well plus a link to your Google Sitemap to help with your SEO.

This extension worked right out "of the box" (so to speak). I have some material on my site which is 'hidden' and only available to people who have an account. Xmap handled generating sitemaps for people who have an account and people who don't have an account. Each sitemap is unique for each type of user. Thank you for a useful piece of software. |

Had the program installed in 30 seconds, configured in less than 1 minute, and I was done.
I really like the exclude feature to exclude pages from the sitemap; extremely easy to use and fast to convigure. No problems at all. Great app. |

This works flawlessly! Nice and simple, works out of the box without much configuration.
The only feature request I have is the ability to restrict indexing of certain menues to a max-depth. This could become quite handy for news-websites with many articles |

works as advertised. i would give it excellent but i'll reserve that for something that makes me shake in my boots. also, if i didn't get advice from an amigo i wouldn't really know how to implement it. i'm one month old into joomla so i'm kinda a dummy for now. |

Great work - easy to integrate and use. I am using it in both of my two projects. It works as expected and provides beside the user-readable sitemap also an xml-sitemap for our good friends - the search-engine bots. The periodically refreshed content will always provide the latest content available.
One thing might be nice to have in future:
In the module settings of a menu one can choose to start displaying the menu's hierarchy from a specified level on. It really would be great, when XMap would adhere to this setting.
That would improve the narrow shaped hierarchy-structure of Joomla enormously. With this a site admin could structure his site deeper and needn't to have any fears of showing a sitemap - because all menu items that should not be visible won't be shown at all. |
