If you want to build a site off line or to try out ideas, components or just see how the darn thing looks then this is for you. It installed in seconds and I didn't need to change a thing. I uses this as my test bed for templates components and css/html changes I might wanna make. Even if you only look after one site its well worth downloading.

I've been using this package for a while and everything was perfect, however after a few changes to my computer - installed and removed software, added few more disk drives - it won't mount the virtual drive properly and wont run apache. I'm certain that it's my own fault yet inability to find the cause of the problem made me to look for a different solution, maybe installing and configuring all servers from the scratch. Owner's reply: If you have problems you should report them on the forum at www.ravensportal.co.uk where you will be able to get some help

This was the easiest tool I've ever seen! Just unpack in a directory you choose and run. I've also installed Joomla 1.5 RC4 and it works like a charm!!

I had been using a xampp installation to develop Joomla sites locally, but I have 4 different systems, and installing xampp on each one is a hassle and I didn't want the security issues. This install was hassle-free and now I can keep the sites on a flash drive and use on whatever system I choose, without wondering which system I left my files on. Great extension. Highly recommended!

I have to say, this is has to be the extension of the century compared to all others. Being a web designer, this allows me to work independently on my own machine (and without internet connection) for client sites before going live with any site. Simply and purely awesome guys!

I love this tool and use it to develop templates prior to my clients seeing them live. No more uploading my pages just to test them. I modify my template inside Ravenswood's template folder save and simply refresh the web browser. Saves TONS of time.

Easy to install and does exactly what it says.
My only (minor) moan is that the readme file doesn't mention that other programs using port 80 (Skype or MS IIS or example) stop it working; you have to go to the forum to find out.
But definitely a winner!

Just downloaded it out of interest and am really glad I did. I hadn't used Community Builder before so thought it would be an idea to try it with that. Installed fine, no problem. I have also installed Joomla board, Event List. Mamblog, Market Place, Sigsiu and Uddeim. They all work fine including the CB plugins.
I have also installed a copy on my laptop and it makes an excellent demo platform.
Only thing I haven't sussed out is how to access PHPMyAdmin. I can see it there but not sure how to call it up.
Still gets 5 stars though and big thanks to the developer.

Seems the phpMyAdmin version does not support importing tables into a database. You can export but there is no option for importing tables into a blank database.
This makes this program pointless imo.
How am I supposed to take a preexisting site and put it on my hard drive so I can run it locally. If someone has a way to do this it would be appreciated.

I do like the extension, very easy to get and use, but it really messed up with community builder.
I have to delete it, download it again, and start over. Don't know what other extensions it doesn't work with.

This is a great "package". Not only does it allow one to run everything on the local machine, it also allows you to have multiple environments on the same machine.
Makes testing, prototyping and rough development a much cleaner, safer and faster process.
Indispensable.
