The built-in AJAX files comment system released!
Comments, on the one hand, very simple. The cores from available possibilities:
In the Administrative part:
- allow/forbid comments,
- allow/forbid comments to Visitors,
- appoint Moderators of comments;
In Frontend:
- show/hide individual page of comments of each file,
- load/unload the list of comments,
- remove all comments to a file (for the appointed Moderators),
- remove last comment to a file (for the appointed Moderators).
However, despite simplicity, there are "delights":
- comments system is executed entirely on technology AJAX. Any actions of the User or the Moderator on work with comments are made without page reloads!
- Comments are completely "built-in" the catalogue of files - to you are not present are necessary to leave the catalogue and to open new pages, to write or see comments,
- Each file has own page of comments. Thanking AJAX you can read and write comments at once to several files simultaneously!

At the desire of users updated version of component Adeptus File Manager released.
Some functions earlier present, but disconnected have been included :
1. Possibility to automatic set access rights on the files uploaded by means of a component,
2. Monitoring & logging uploading of files.
How update?
1. Download from my file archive the updated archive with a component, deinstall in the standard way the old version, install in the standard way the updated version, make adjustment of a configuration of a component.
I remind, that component AFM at deinstall does not delete any before the entered data (the list of files, comments, descriptions, ratings...), except own configuration so all data available for you on file archive to remain!
As I pay your attention, that number of the version of a component is left without changes - 2.7, owing to that anything new has not appeared - earlier disconnected functions have simply been included.
2. Go into a component configuration, and on the Expanded Tab find parametre "Rights to the loaded files". You can establish in this field of value 0444,0666 or 0777. All other entered values are ignored. If to leave the given field empty - any actions with files it will not be undertaken (it for at whom and so all works normally).
How to use?
1. If you need change of access rights on uploaded files - enter in the field "Rights to the loaded files" necessary value (as a rule, 0666). If such actions are not necessary to you - leave the given field empty.
2. Save component configuration.
3. Upload files on a server with the help front-end mechanism of a component.
4. Enter on your server by FTP or a different way.
5. In the catalogue/components/com_afm/js there should be a file upload.log - in it the information on results of last made loading of files and change of access rights (if it has been included) contains.
ATTENTION! The file upload.log contains the information only about the latest loading! Each following loading erases the information on the previous!
And, at last, the most important thing:
1. Remember that all is far not a server are adjusted so, that will resolve to you change of access rights with the uploaded files! In this case you need to solve the given question with yours hoster.
2. Remember that change of access rights with files works only on servers under control of UNIX-systems! If your server works under control of Windows-system, change of access rights will not work!

Man what didnt I try, every single file manager component available. But none seemed to provide What I needed. Then I found AFM, my ultimate solution!
Just dump your files/folders inside AFM root folder, it will index everything and generate download links which is truly amazing. Moreover download counter, rating, commenting these things really enhance the beauty.
Respect to the developer.
Keep up the good work!

This is a good component. It does what it says.
The developer is Russian, so the English translations are not the greatest, I had to add/change some stuff in the language file.
There are some, I feel, unnecessary toggle functions to collapse parts of the interface that don't really need to collapse. But they were easily removed.
My biggest complaint was the lack of ability to search the downloads through the main site search function. I have created a search mambot and sent it to the developer. It is also located on my site at www.greenmonkeydesigns.com in the free downloads section.
If you need a download repository for your Joomla! site, this is an good choice. Owner's reply: Big tnx for the review & mambot. It was published in my file archive.
Plz try the new (revised) version of AFM 2.7.

I tried all Docman, Repository, Remository etc. All have something trouble. These components too heaven and frozen.
I look for some small and reliable component.
I like the Adeptus very much and thanks again..
Sincerely Jargal from Mongolia.. Owner's reply: Tnx for review.

| As it says....basic downloader by wsecomp, November 25, 2007 |

Pros - Easy setup, Adds ALL files below parent directory, basic downloader
Cons - Lack of documentation, site has no English translation (that I could find)
Suggestions:
* Have choice of 'info' icon or comment below file name (there's times I would want the icon, but for a site I'm setting up I need the comments to be plainly visible)
* Ability to go Up in file directory structure in the CP rather than going all the way back to the beginning
* Add English translation of author's site
Problems:
2.6 gave SQL error, as did the amm.zip (whatever that does)
2.5 reports that it is 2.3
When only a couple hundred files, it takes a LONG time to enter the FILES area of the CP.
Nice and easy to setup. Can have subfolders or 'copy' component to have different folders on menu. Documentation on some of the features needs to be done. Owner's reply: 1. My site already have a English translation. Look at the British flag in the top-right corner, pls!
2. My AFM component already have ability to go UP in catalogues structure! See "Go UP" and "Go HOME" icons below the pathway.
3. Please download & install the renew version of AFM - 2.6!

This really is simple and straight forward component for downloading. I've tried a number of download managers and this one seems to be just as good as the others without all the complication.
The only request I would have is to be able to use with Jacl. Owner's reply: Sorry, but actually I have not a plan to integrate my AFM with Jacl...

If you don't want to put much time in your download section, this is the component you need. Easy install and configuration. With just one click you got all your files in your (sub)directories put in place. Owner's reply: You are absolutely right.
Thanks for a response.
Look at the new version of a component - 2.6, with built-in AJAX comments system.
