Easy eXtended Gallery
After five months, more than 800 peoples used the 1.5.0.2 version, so I've decided to make an english version and correct some little bugs. Easy eXtended Gallery 1.5.0.3 is the last update of "Galerie Repertoire" known in french community.
Easy eXtended Gallery is a mambot script for Joomla! 1.0.x that displays picture galleries on content item (another one ! I know...). It is intended to provide a very simple way to set up online photo albums: just put your pictures in a directory, call it in your article and enjoy !... That is what it's all about !
You can display your pictures with 5 AJAX scripts : greybox, slimbox, lightbox, thickbox and smoothbox. Thumbnails can be generated with a realistic shadow (like photoshop), with a reflexion, or normally. You can cross thumbnails to make square pictures, or show only the first thumbnail of the gallery.
It is massively configurable though, and you can tune the layout just as much as you want to match your exact template's design : there is some textarea in the administration mambot where you can define your own css style. Several cool features are also included, while try keeping in mind that the program aims to be as simple as possible. Thumbnail are automaticaly generated and cached to reduce the server charge. EXG generates compliant code and makes extensive use of CSS stylesheets to render galleries. It only requires PHP version 4 or higher and the GD2 image manipulation library.
EXG is avaible in english and french (sorry if there is lots of orthography mistakes in the english version)

EXG is free for use (distributed under the GPL license), very easy to set up and manage... It makes you just a few clicks away from getting your photo album on the web.

** ONLY FOR JOOMLA! 1.0.x, I work on a Joomla! 1.5 version as soon as possible **

2007-10-09:
a little bug is corrected : arg2['repertoire'] instead of arg2['directory'], in the english version. Sorry for this.
download file is update.

Very good by Bonkster, August 27, 2008
I was looking for an easy to use plugin to put some pictures into my virtuemart product descriptions. This plugin was what I'm looking for!

Easy to install and it works easy. Just put a simple tag into your product description and the gallery appears! It works great with 2J Tabs too so you can create a nice product description with tabs and a gallery included, great job!

Great tool for simple image viewing by Ameise Ink, June 30, 2008
After reading the reviews, I decided to go with easy eXtended for my images viewing. It is so easy to use! My images were on my site within minutes!

For a really basic, but still pretty slick looking image viewer, this is definitely recommended by me!

My Review by wfwoo, June 5, 2008
Pros
The presentation of this goods especially on the photo thumbnail layout.
Many parameters are provided for custom setting in different page or group of photo.

Cons
The auto label show is inclusive of extension name such as "jpg".

Good tool! by DmitryR, May 28, 2008
It has almoas all from what i wanted from photo gallery component. Could be nice to add english documentation. Runs well in default mode.

Not that good? by mlady, May 23, 2008
Yes it is good. Very helpful. But could be better. I have used it on 3 sites and I find it very hard to get it working how you want. Always when I move it to another server,it's not making proper thumbnails, just the same image over and over. No support for other charsets. BUT if u want to change something, you can't - all in French.

Any way. It's really cool extension. Keep up the good work.

Finally i found The great one by myhello, May 19, 2008
Love it..

very useful plugin & good looking one also.

Masterpiece by aloha7, May 13, 2008
I tried different galleries, but this one is best for me because:
1. it’s easy to install
2. it’s working without bugs
3. it works nice, as your web page deserves
4. it’s plugin, so it’s configurable per usage (content item) basis (just put {gallery …parameters…} in your content item)
5. it has a lot of customization/configuration options to choose from
6. it is THE ONLY gallery I’ve found that allows you to put Image descriptions/Captions in your language, which might use UTF-8 and accented characters (Slovenian, Norwegian, Dutch, etc.)

If Image descriptions/Captions in UTF-8 with accented characters are important to you, than just:
1. open file for editing: …\mambots\content\bot_Easy_eXtended_Gallery_rep\fonctions.php
2. find each occurrence of: htmlentities(whatever, ENT_QUOTES); (there are 7 of them in version 1.5.0.3)
3. and change them (add UTF-8 string) to: htmlentities(whatever, ENT_QUOTES, 'UTF-8');
4. follow the rules regarding creating and saving XML description file (draft manual with config options is available in: Mambots > Site Mambots > Easy eXtended Gallery)

Wishes:
1. English manual (although configuration options are self-explanatory)
2. Joomla! module, so it can be used even wider, not jjust content items.

Good product by xdakotax, May 2, 2008
Love this component, makes creating galleries for non-technical clients a breeze. It was easy to setup with clear instructions and lots of customisation for the mambot.

My only trouble is having spent many years perfecting my code to ensure my Joomla sites pass W3C validation - I cannot get this out of the box mambot to pass.

please make it for joomla 1.5 now by geniusdevil, April 24, 2008
I've used Easy eXtended Gallery on Joomla 1.0.x and it was great. Very easy to set up and adds charm to the whole website. I've switched to Joomla 1.5 and I can't seem to use this plugin which is very sad!

Easy, flexible, stable by ByeVas, April 19, 2008
This component is great! As I state in the title - it is easy to install and use, works right out of the box.
It is really, relly flexible because you can set up a lot of options to your liking, and finally it performed superb on my live site.

Thank U for this gem-gallery!

Very nice, but one glaring problem by Armorblue, April 15, 2008
Okay, I really love this plugin as a gallery, yet I've come across a major issue that is a problem in custom templates. The gallery doesn't seem to have a "transparent" option for the background color. With white webpages - or solid color backgrounds - this isn't an issue. I tend to work with custom designs though... and searched for but never found a transparent background option.

Not very easy by digiatlas, March 21, 2008

I'm sorry, I can't see what people are raving about. Yes - it's nice when it works. Sadly the default settings "out of the box" (thumbnails ordered horizontally in a black bordered box, greyed out unless hovered over with the mouse) get wiped out as soon as you try changing and saving any of the values in the configuration page for this Mambot. They get replaced with a vertical ordering, no black border, titles that are no longer in line with the thumbs, and the thumbs lose their greyed out effect. It appears the out-of-the-box "default" isn't available as a default.

I don't want my thumbnails ordered down the page thanks. I want them displayed how it initially displayed them. Why oh why do I have to debug other peoples code?!

Please write it so it WORKS correctly.

Owner's reply:
It's such a strange...

Have you got any page cache active ?

Or your CHMOD permission for mambot directories disallow the write access ?

Can you send me a mail to solve where is the problem ?

Excellent !!! by aaa.seo, March 20, 2008

The only gallery component (among other listed here) that worked out-of-box.
It took me about 5 minutes to get neat-looking gallery running.

The only problem arised was that one of the images was 1.8 mB and so the plugin generated error messages. I guess that it should't be too difficult to check for image size and skip oversized ones.

1.5 version? by powerPT, March 13, 2008
