Joomla Random News
The “Popular” or ”Most Read Content” module cause a problem that everyone click on articles that appear there. As a result these articles do not leave from “popular” and new articles don’t appear here. It is a problem since most of the articles present will not be noticed and read. The newer they are the less they're going to be "popular" . The solution I create is to show random news so that all the article I put on my site are going to have their possibility to be noticed by visitors. The “Random News” module is extremely easy to install, configure and run. You can see it on my site http://www.ilcurriculum.net/component/option,com_linx/Itemid,39/ with the title " Articoli consigliati" (suggested articles). This module is completely free, if you use it please put a link on your site that point to www.ilcurriculum.net. Thanks! Available both in Italian and English

edit 24.10.2007
- Fixed a minor error in xml of the module, that breaked installation

no SEF support by teomant, March 2, 2008
works with Joomla 1.51 but does NOT support any SEF. It generates links like index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=50&Itemid=70
so useless for me

Owner's reply:
This sounds really strange, on all sites I'm using it it creates SEF urls.

I'm using it with sh404sef and Joomla 1.013. Can't say anything with joomla 1.5.

Any reply related to this would be appreciated.

This is a very simple module that displays random articles on your site, which is very good if you have a content heavy site. I liked how you can enter in section and/or category id so you can control the types of articles being displayed, best of all is that it is fast. This module loaded up very very very quickly. I will be using it on my future sites.
