You need this if you have lots of people working on the content on your sites. You can see who has checked out what and for how long and if necessary, check-in individidual items thus avoiding the the use of "Global Checkin" and annoying users by loosing their un-saved work.
Bart has now also updated the component so that works with the "register globals=off" mode now recommended for security in Joomla V1.0.11.

Just installed and tested. An excellent tool offering a fundamental function that really should be a standard in the base Joomla install.

The standard "Global Checkin" will check in all items, leading to publishers loosing changes if they were actively editing an item at the same time, and should therefor be avoided. This tool allows you to do just that.

I believe Joomla 1.1 will have a more advanced version integrated as standard, but until then, this is a must have component.

MyCheckin is a simple manager for checked out items. It lists which component, user and timestamps checked out each item. Checking in items is simply a one-click process. There is no version history or revert feature, nor are the item externally linked. (Clickable to preview the current state of the checked out item).

MyCheckin is a lightweight component that serves basic check-in needs, but doesn't offer much in the way of advanced tracking or content previews. It does a simple job if you're not demanding much, but power users may wish to wait for subsequent releases or another component.
