Joosurvey is Joomla component for making online surveys on Joomla! site. The component is modification of the LimeSurvey (http://www.limesurvey.org). The Joosurvey has all features of LimeSurvey and some additional specified to Joomla. This component requires Community Builder installed. Additional features in Joosurvey: 1. Included two Community builder plugins. 2. Allowed attaching of files to the survey. 3. Allowed copying of surveys (completed and in progres). This component created in cooperation with Forward Scotland.

Looking for free surveys? Go for LimeSurvey! by aloha7, May 29, 2008

Although JooSurvey is listed under Community Builder plugins, it is a separate product on itself. It should be listed under "Surveys" if such a group would existed in Joomla extensions at the time of this writing.

I was looking for a survey extension in joomla and JooSurvey was the only freely available to test it. Unfortunately, I have never ever succeeded in installing it on my Joomla website.

Fortunately, the JooSurvey is based on LimeSurvey.org, which are the authors of this very good survey management product. I've tried it as a standalone application and was surprised how good this product is. But, be aware that LimeSurvey is a "small joomla" on itself. It is not an easy "few clicks" package you install and test it in a minute or two. You need time to read the documentation, which is very good indeed, and additional time to play with numerous options in preparing highly professional surveys.

You can install LimeSurvey as a standalone web application, publish it and than incorporate/integrate finished surveys in a joomla wrapper. However, there are some drawbacks, especially when wrapping in joomla from different domain, as is the case with this scenario. The advantage is that you can use single LimeSurvey for different (possibly joomla) domains.

The second option (and by my opinion much better from the integration point of view) is to install it within joomla installation (just add "/limesurvey" directory beneath the root joomla folder, and voila, you can produce, publish and manage very sophisticated surveys (joomla-wrapped of course). Don't forget proper security configuration in this integration scenario.

I don't blame JooSurvey author for not implementing the newest LimeSurvey version 1.70+ as a joomla extension, because integrating LimeSurvey into joomla is most likely a huge job, especially for a single man. Nevertheless, thank you Gelembjuk for pointing to the right solution, which plays in my joomla installation as a breeze.

God-send Merge? by mystifier, April 6, 2008

The problem using Limesurvey in a wrapper is that 'Survey User' control is lost which JooSurvey tries to overcome by plugging into 'Community Builder'.

After some messing around, it was all working but it was disappointing that it was a very old version with most of the features I liked were missing.

For now, it is back to a wrapper but I would like to see this component come of age.

A very good free survey extension by rtc, November 27, 2007
Hi, I'm quite new to CB, and I am not claiming to be an expert already in Limesurvey. (Thanks guys, btw, for developing this excellent survey tool).

With regards to the older Limesurvey integrated in Joomla, I still can't find the admin interface wherein I am able to check the results of my surveys. In a standalone installation, for example, I can always go to */admin to see my results.

I hope I just didn't miss the instructions somewhere.

Nevertheless, I salute you guys!

Not yet ready by ksorbo, November 8, 2007
What a great idea! Limesurvey is a great php application and joomla is the best!

I tried JooSurvey but was disappointed. It was difficult to get working (I am not a Joomla novice). When I got it working it was slow. Also this is based on an old version of limesurvey. They have a new version with many new features.

Joosurvey turned me on to limesurvey. I liked it so much, I decided to use limesurvey without the joomla wrapper. Runs much faster with direct install than in the joosurvey component.

Hope Roman gets this working. I will probably use it.

Great start, a bit buggy by justIT, November 3, 2007
Not for the novice as you really have to know how to handle limesurvey and know how to install community builder plugins. Uses the older v1.0 of Limesurvey BUT adds new features not found before:

1) Ability for registered user to upload files
2) Ability for registered user to review and store surveys.

For those not familiar to limesurvey, this is the only free survey statistical package that uses conditional responses (ie. if user selected 'RED' in Question 1 then skip to question 7 and so on). Worth a look for anyone who is serious about online forms on their website ...otherwise wait for upcoming user manual.
