MojoBlog (com_mojo) is a integrated native joomla 1.0.15 blogging component developed loosely around the popular Open Source blogging platform WordPress. MojoBlog is a much leaner, meaner and more semantically compliant iteration of Marko Schmuck's older com_jd-wp. In essence, it's an out of the box replacement/upgrade for current jd-wp users that validates (xhtml and css), loads up to 200% faster, uses less server resources (like 189k less) and plays nice with most free and commercial joomla templates. For new bloggers, mojoBlog offers many features and tools not available with the default joomla blog tool. Integrated commenting, plugin support for avatar/gravatars, Integrated trackback, permalink support, Integrated rss with support for feedburning, subscribe to feeds, and much more.
MojoBlog currently supports many 3rd party WordPress plugins and plays nice with the latest version of joomla 1.0.15. Additional modules (mimic wordpress sidebar, calendar, latest posts, etc.) also available. | I love MojoBlog - and the support is great! by siansimon2, April 16, 2008 |

It installed great, has all the features I need, with a bit of tweaking, the permalinks are pretty, and the support is GREAT - better than I've experienced with many paid components!
Highly recommend it to anyone looking for a clean and easy blog.

this component kicks ass.
yes...there are problems, but as support grows for this component, the problems will go away. for the time being, mojoblog is a tremendous addition to your site if you want a highly configurable blog system. mind you, if you want wordpress, there is wordpress. if you want joomla website with a kick ass blogger software, use mojoblog.
i have experienced some problems with this software, but nothing i can't deal with (transferring site from dev server to live and the thing won't work anymore -- solution: reinstall the software on the live server and it works).
the main point i want to emphasize is that this is wordpress WITHIN a joomla environment and it is stripped down. so, for experienced wordpress users that are used to doing everything in wordpress, this may be disappointing.
one request: more plugins ported over from authentic wordpress, please -- can't have enough of them.

| Works great for joomla 1.0! by Kobayashi, April 11, 2008 |

This is better than wordpress because it integrates seemlesly to the CMS. If you want a blog, this is where you should look. I am waiting and hoping that a joomla 1.5 version is on the way!

I'm sure it has a purpose and be a fantastic extension for someone needing it. But after trying for 20 minutes, it wasn't for me. I need something like Mamblog w/ categorization feature.

| Good for Personal Use by lblues, April 8, 2008 |

However, I cannot advise using it in a production environment for a client. I just have and the time I had to spend dealing with small bugs and display issues (in both the front end and administrative screens) in IE6 ran up my project hours.
I would use it for my own personal site as I would not have a problem spending my own time troubleshooting it. Having the fantastic Wordpress software integrated into Joomla! is worth my time. But, again, my time on this particular project was not my own. The display issues were not present in Firefox. Overall, pretty nice for free component.

This is a fantastic blog and I'm delighted. My question is this: Will you create a Community builder version? Please?! Add the CB functionality and this component is the clear choice for all those CB websites.

With a customer using "jd wordpress" for a couple years I was tickled pink someone was carrying on this blogging component.
mojoBlog has been solid, secure and feature rich. I'd highly recommend it.

This blog component is so far removed from being usable. I will list a few problems.
1) If you change the backend URI - the component is no longer accessible.
2) The front end blogging is nigh impossible, a few 1/2 baked hacks with sql errors present is possible
3) The title, meta description, meta keyword, etc is NOT updated with this component.
4) It's user management on a site with thousands of users is nearly impossible to navigate through
I could go on, but I will conclude with find another blog component, trust me.

| So Eassssssyyy! I love you! by caltucker, March 18, 2008 |

Finally, a blog component that installs easily, and looks amazing, and is easy to manage! Well done! Bravo! And guess what? It doesn't cost $75 like the MyBlog Component ($35 + $35 for the commenting component)
Now, if you only offered the Joomla 1.5 component. Then I would be soooooooooooo happy!

But there is no way to allow the person to post a new post from the front end. If there is, its not directly clear anywhere in the forums. So its all backend stuff only. Owner's reply: It's actually quite easy to add or edit a blog post from the public side of mojo, but, you'll need to be "logged in" before the menu is visible. :-)

OMG!! This is by far the best FREE blogging extension for Joomla! It installs very well and is easy to use on both front-end and back-end. There are many more features to come.. KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK!!
Note: After installing mojoblog, you must use the (super administrator) Login and Password for front-end and back-end to work properly.

So far I have added on a few plugins from word press that I live by, the most important one that works just great is role-manager. I never thought I would be able to set the roles of what users can do so easily in joomla blog setups, I thought i was going to have to stick to wordpress all my life, again, great contribution, thank you for it.

If you are thinking of blogging on Joomla, this is your extension.
If you want to be popular, this is your extension.
If you have no money to pay for quality extensions, this is your extension.
I really love this extension. Installation was frigging easy as heck, and everything works just like Wordpress did, which makes the learning curve ZERO for anyone with a WP background. I guess there are some bugs but I can't find them, and it's not even at RC1 yet.
Here's what I would do if I were you and I were thinking of getting this ... just put it as the last thing on your to-do list for your site. I know, I know ... you want to get up and going with your blog as your first priority, but just trust me because I've been down this road before and this is the best way. OK, so as I was saying, save this installation for last. Go ahead and configure the rest of your site and edge toward a mental breakdown because Joomla IS kinda, ya know, hard to get along with right off the bat... it's like trying to get to know your girlfriend's brother. so now that you're all stressed out from component hunting and module tweaking, and figuring out that there's no nice way to override module output without hacking it ... now that you don't want to ever look at another web page or CMS for the rest of your life ... now download this extension and install it.
Don't hold your breath waiting for it to crash or fail, because you will suffocate. Now you will experience a miracle - a holy, overwhelming satisfaction beaming down on you from Heaven, and you will enter a state of nirvana, and all the angels and relatives you miss will be sitting around you, giving you the thumbs up and high-fiving you because this installation went right, and your blog is all good, and they know it's all good, and you know it's all good. Now you can go to sleep and smile, and you can dream up some emotional rants for tomorrow's blog post, and figure out who to put on your blogroll, and you can ponder who to pwn in world of warcraft with all your newfound free time that you saved from not having to deal with another crappy extension.
I hope you enjoyed reading this comment and that it helps you in selecting this component for your Joomla site.
