I spent a long time looking how to make this work in my JOOMLA 1.5 websites. Eventually I managed to make it work so all the work was worth it.
I like the animated graphic it uses in the captcha pages in both the register and contact page. I have also written a detailed installation guide in english along with all the required files you need to upload. You should not have to write any code at all.

This plugin works great on my J1.5 site! Some change in code required to two files as per the downloadable zip file entitled captcha.zip located at http://forum.joomla.org/download/file.php?id=46370.
Make sure you're logged on to source the downloadable file. Just a little bit of work required but it is definitely worth a little bit of hassle to stop a lot of hassle created by those infamous spammers.

This was an easy extension to install, even for someone like me that is just figuring things out.
At first I was concerned that the animated image was going to be too distracting, but once I got it installed that isn't an issue; in fact it draws attention to visitors to make a comment.

Installed fine, but there is no support i have no clue how to make it work, also the brazilian site have everything except instructions so.... i really cant tell i dunno how others did... cant make it work

We really need CAPTCHA plugin to refuse spams. If the Joomla! team want to add one in the next version, I think BigoCaptcha is the best choice. It can generate animated code instead of static word. I am sure this is more difficult for spambot to guess.

Great plugin, worked when all the other ones wouldn't. One caveat: You need to hack some files to make it work in the core Joomla packages, for example you have to hack components/com_user/views/register/tmpl/default.php and /components/com_user/controller.php in order to get this to work on your registration page.
