AyTube - Ajax Youtube
AyTube, the Ajax--based extension for Joomla that allows you to embed multiple YouTube videos on your web site, has been released.

If you have videos on YouTube you’ve always wanted to showcase, here’s your chance. Without cluttering your site with videos, AyTube can display one video at a time, and allows visitors to scroll through them.

Features:
- Displays YouTube videos uploaded by a particular user. (Perhaps yours!)
- Displays the favorite YouTube videos by a particular user.
- Displays multiple videos without cluttering your site. Simply by pressing the “Next” and “Prev” links, the visitors of your site can scroll through your list of videos. Or they can choose a from a list of videos by clicking "Select Video".
- Ajax-based. This means that site visitors can scroll through and play the videos without the need to wait for your entire page to reload. This saves bandwidth and time, and keeps the visitors at your page.
- Displays videos both in a small and larger window.
- Easy to install and set up.
- Video-streaming is done using your visitors’ bandwidth, not yours.
- Admin can configure up to 50 videos per YouTube user name and another 50 per favorites list to be shown.

New:
- Supports auto playing of videos on load (configurable by Admin).
- Supports auto looping of each video (configurable by Admin).
- Pauses the video playing in the module when "Expand" or "Select Videos" is clicked.

Great module, great service by pdschris, September 16, 2008
I had issues installing this component due to my server not being compatible, Eric was very quick to help out even though it wasn't his problem. Moved it to a compatible server and it works great.

The module itself is neat and a cool touch to finish off your website, well worth the fee. Install it, type in your youtube username and the rest is automatic. I'm sure you can change the styling to suit your site but for me it fitted in straight out the box. Works great and I'm sure there's lots more to come from this component.

Very nice module by Tuscany, August 2, 2008
Very intelligent module using bandwith of Youtube intead of yours. It has never been easier to install a video player including a selection list.

Though in some cases it might be useful to play local files or from other providers (MyVideo, Google) as well.

So let's think about AyTube as a starter for going to be a very great module !

Keep up the good work.

Still a couple issues by tjyoung, November 22, 2007
2 of 2 people find this review helpful:
Looks promising. Few shortcomings though ie:
1) if you click on the screen to watch the video, it plays (which is good), but instinctively you would click on the screen to pause, but that instead pops open a window to youtube while yours is playing in the background.
2) Enlarge video works well, but again, if its already playing and you decide you want to see it larger, it opens the window to play the larger one, but the original is still playing in the background (should really stop when you click on the enlarge link)
3) Links to next and enlarge aren't very intuitive and don't really get noticed (though I imagine that can be fixed)

Owner's reply:
1) This is a Youtube feature, uncontrollable on the client side. Essentially when a person clicks on any embedded Youtube video that is playing, on any web page (even if it's not on Aytube), this is what will happen and Youtube currently does not support disabling this function.

2) Youtube currently does not support dynamically sending of commands to the player, that is why one has to stop a player first. This is the same situation whether one uses Aytube or not: when you have 2 embedded videos on the same page. If you play one video and click on another youtube player, the first player will continue playing while the second starts to play. Exactly the same.

Aytube is particularly useful if you have videos that you want to showcase, perhaps as a form of advertisement for your products or services, or simply for sharing some joyful moments with your friends. It can also be set that a video will start playing automatically once it is loaded.
