YNews (Yesterday's News)
YNews shows a title with introtext for the current date within a module. The fulltext can be opened with a link. The whole thing functions that way: You fill in the ynews through the front- or backend. That means title, introtext, fulltext and the date. For Example "First Streetcar", "The first Streetcar on earth was in New York City and powered by horses, "More Text", "26.11.1832". Is the current date now any 26.11., for example 26.11.2007 in the module is displayed: 175 years ago: The first streetcar on earth... If you entered a fulltext a "More..." Button is displayed. When you click this the fulltext is shown on the mainpage. There you can use images and the full joomla article functionality. In addition to that you can insert "commemorial days" like the world aids day. Please don't forget to install the module, elswhere the component is quite useless.
