If your interested in adding Google Maps to your site, this component greatly simplifies the process. These maps are a great way to show location based data, and being able to roll them into Joomla is a great feature. As has been noted, read the directions closely.

This component is great. It installs without fuss. The configuration settings do require some fine tuning, which can be time consuming due to browser caching. The setting up of markers is a bit of pain, tho' I guess geocoding is the root problem here in my own experience, so not necessarily the fault of the component itself. A bulk import would utility - which also checks the validity of entries, namely postcode/zipcode, would make this an invaluable component. An excellent / active forum. Worth investigating / supporting.

This was super easy to install and to get working. Very impressed. After setting this up though I noticed that TransMenu stopped working. I removed the body tag code necessary to get GoogleMaps working and TransMenu works again. Any ideas on a fix? Is there a better place to post bugs?

I was able to set it up in minutes. I was able to customize it very quickly, even custom BMW pushpins/icons.

The only issue was that I downloaded my data directly to the MySql database and it didn't have the log lat coordinates so I had to access and save the record using the front end like you normally would.

A batch data upload would be a great addition.

I run several youth sports sites and creating map pages with directions has always been a real pain. Google maps is awesome. I have control of the initial display of the map and the user can do whatever they want with it including panning, zooming and switching between map, satellite and hybrid view. The info balloon is configurable in many ways...I use it to allow the user to enter their address to generate directions from their house to the field. The accompanying module changes automatically to display the locations listed within the current category and the latest version of the componenent supports unique/custom markers per categories in case you want to display more than one category at a time, but still be able to distinguish between them.

This component simplifies putting a map on your site with Google Maps. The latest version allows for customized markers, which is exactly what I needed for my map. Very easy to use, and highly recommended.
