Advanced Search
The Advanced Search extension suite brings professional search features to the Joomla! platform for the first time. Advanced Search extends the power of the default Joomla search engine and gives you the ability to narrow your search results to specific content types such as categories, articles, events, etc... Features include: (1) Content-specific search result filtering, (2) Language-specific search result filtering (Joomfish-enabled sites only), (3) Dynamic detection/usage of searchable content types, (4) SEO/SEF ready with built-in support for sh404sef, (5) W3C XHTML 1.0 Transitional, W3C CSS Valid, (6) ability to search for menu items & authors, (7) Customizable display of searchable content types using CSS styles and (8) Ability to set default search parameters in the backend including the minimum/maximum search string length and search type (exact phrase, any word, all words).

Let's you pick from your search mambots by emphyrio, February 15, 2008
What it does: the component enhances the standard search with checkboxes, indicating which mambots you want to use per search. E.g. if you have search mambots for your forum, your content and your news items, you can pick which one you want to search each time. By default, Joomla searches all published mambots and combines the results. With Advanced Search, you can choose.

Using their module you can display a search box to search a particular part of your site (providing you have a search mambot for that).

Currently, this is all the component does. Some more features are in the pipe line. E.g. include or exclude particular sections or categories. A personal favorite for me would be an extra sorting option, allowing it to sort by keyword density.

If you need it, shell out the 10 bucks to download it. Don't expect too much, but the basic functionality is solid.

This component is a must have for Joomla users, it installs in minutes, does exactly what it says on the can and is highly configurable.
